Florida-based Spirit Airlines (NK) flies nonstop to over 90 destinations in the United States, Caribbean, Central and South America. The carrier flies an all-Airbus fleet which is one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient in the U.S. Planes are configured with Economy Class seating as well as Big Front Seats. I decided to try Spirit Airlines for the first time due to the last-minute nature of my trip and the difficulty in finding a same-day flight from FLL to NY and back to Florida. Unfortunately, the initial flight was delayed by 2 hours (due to the pilot exceeding their hours and waiting for a replacement pilot to arrive) and the subsequent flight from NY was delayed by over 5 hours. What was even more shocking was the complete lack of communication – the initial delay was pushed from 5 pm to 6 pm, then 7 pm, and finally past 10 pm. When we sought an update on our flight from the flight assistant at the ticket desk, he appeared disinterested in providing any information. After my wife mentioned that he should display some empathy considering our children were home alone, his response was, "I am not in the empathy business, I am in the air business." This absence of an apology or clear communication for a 5-hour delay was unacceptable. As an executive in a large corporation, I find this attitude completely unacceptable. This experience has solidified my decision that this will be my first and last flight with this company. It is not surprising that their overall rating of 2.3 reflects this attitude and their approach to conducting business.…

I paid for assigned seats the night prior when I checked in one seat of four was not assigned. I paid… again to have an assigned seat thinking I could get a refund. The seat I paid for originally was not even a seat on the plane it was for the flight attendant. I can’t even speak to anyone to address this. At least anyone that speaks English. I am disappointed. I had used this airline’s previously and was satisfied but will not use again unless it’s resolved.…

Spirit failed me on the first try. I missed the flight due to TSA delays. Counter agents at the gate we not compassionate. They were not concerned about my situation at all. Rebook counter was quarter mile away from the gate. They wanted to wait til the next day to fly and to charge me $100 to Rebook. I had to be back at work. Thank God for Delta and American. They both could accommodate me so American Airlines gave me a cheap ticket to fly two hours later. American brought me home. I made it to work on time. Ppl told me to never fly Spirit but I wanted to give them a chance. Spirit failed the first opportunity. Never again 😒 Spirit.…

They left me all day and all night in Myrtle beach because the air conditioner on the plane broke before take off and in the end I bought myself a new ticket for Delta and got a $12 food voucher from Spirit. I can't believe that something like this is allowed in America. Terrible company. At all airports you can see that only Spirit is late on all flights. Garbage company. Spirit canceled my flight. They offered me a big voucher... FOR FOOD... that has to be used in just one flight. Ridiculous! I was very had to understand the agents who work for that company. Everything was a NO, and they want to charge you outrageous amount for everything.
