Purity Ring & Braids both announce tours behind new albums

Electronic pop duo Purity Ring haven’t put out new material in a while, but they’ve just announced their first album in five years, WOMB, due out April 3rd via 4AD. It’s the duo’s first full-length since 2015’s Another Eternity, and was written, recorded, produced and mixed entirely by members Megan James and Corin Roddick. They’re shared a new single, “stardew,” which is in line with the vibrant, glitzy direction heard on Another Eternity, with a hard-hitting synthetic pop sound. It’s catchy stuff, and you can hear it below.

The duo also have a North American tour scheduled for this spring, which includes stops in Philly, NYC, Toronto, LA, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, and others, before a European tour in the fall. There are two NYC shows at Brooklyn Steel on May 15 & 16, and tickets for those shows (and the whole tour) go on Friday 2/21 at 10 AM, with various presales starting Wednesday 2/19 at noon. View all upcoming dates, and WOMB‘s artwork and tracklist, below.

Meanwhile, fellow Canadians and previous Purity Ring tourmates Braids, who also released a split 7″ with the duo in 2011, have a new album of their own coming out; Shadow Offering, which former Death Cab for Cutie member Chris Walla produced, is due out April 24 via Secret City Records. They’ve now announced a North American tour supporting it this summer, which kicks off in Detroit on June 3 and hits Chicago, Portland, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston, Washington DC, and more. The Brooklyn show happens at Rough Trade on July 2, and tickets go on sale Wednesday 2/20 at 11 AM, with an American Express presale starting Tuesday 2/19 at noon. See all of Braids’ upcoming dates below.
