I currently attend Dominican University of Blauvelt and I love it. I only live 15 minutes away from campus so I commute. I don’t know much about the food on campus or the student life since I commute but I often get emails about fun events going on on campus like karaoke night, yoga class, movie night, and more. All of my professors that I’ve had so far have been very kind and helpful. No complaints.
I'm starting my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Dominican University and I'm so excited to start here!
Amazing school, great academics and they help you as a student prosper. The school is welcoming as well as has loads of activities to help you connect with others and prosper in your studies.
I hope the university invests more in making sports and fitness programs better. That means improving the sports facilities and making sure everyone has a chance to be active. A better campus life is essential, with more fun and social events. Upgrading facilities like dorms, libraries, and common areas would make campus life more enjoyable. Investing in these things not only makes the university experience better but also attracts more students. So, I wish the university puts more money into these areas, making it a place where everyone can learn, grow, and have a great time.
Dominican is a very outgoing university. The teachers can become your best friends and they will do everything they can to help you move forward. They won't give it so easy to you but they will take time out to help you understand course work and for you to get a high grade possible. To make friends in college is a bit difficult. I feel that to meet and talk to people you will need to live on campus rather than commute. I am a commuter and I don't talk to people because once I'm done with class I go straight to work. Whenever I haVe some spare time I spend it on time to get school work done and read over notes which is a bit difficult to do when you don't speak to people who can help you out. But overall I love this college. They try there best to see you and help you become the greatest you, you can be.
The DPT program is not weekend format. You'll be there on weekdays, and even at professor's own personal clinics on days you should be off. One professor openly claims to be “the first responder to 9/11” and consistently inappropriately touches female students when “practicing techniques”. Another openly spoke to my class about the point system for new students, and lets just say grades, credentials, and experience are not what they look for. Another professor was found guilty of insurance fraud, yet he teaches about insurance. Most professors worked together before Dominican, so they cover for each other when they touch students inappropriately, target certain students, are late, or have a teaching assistant(TA) teach core classes. Practical’s are entirely “depends who you get”, you may do everything right and fail, or do everything wrong and be passed by a TA who hasn't been to one class. Students don't report on these issues due to fear and the dismissal rate(half my class).
The small class size and individual attention. The teachers make sure you understand everything they teach, even if they have to explain it 12 different ways. Made very close friends and the classes where do in depth.
The experience at the university is amazing. The staff/faculty are always on board to help the student personally and really care for their needs. However dorming at the university could be better from certain ra's not fully being there for the residents to the student themselves not keeping clean behind themselves in the bathroom.
I am a person who believes God is in control of everything, and he has a plan for each of us. My senior year of high school was difficult because it was during the first year of COVID. I applied to multiple colleges, and got accepted to most. My top choice at the time, was way too expensive for my family and I. A day before the deadline, I applied to Dominican University and got accepted the next day. It felt right and it felt perfect for me. Once I started, it was amazing. The teachers and peers were awesome. I'm happy and grateful to have found my place at Dominican University and am proud to say I will graduate this upcoming year!
I am a transfer student so still getting used to everything around me, thus, the staff was very welcoming.
only down side is tuition cost..

I was in the nursing program. First in the accelerated program and then transitioned into the regular program. The instructors in the program were excellent.
Small and friendly. school. The teachers really care about you.I like how they will go out of their way to help you. Some changes I would like to see are better food choices in the school.
I am a transfer student and so far I love everything about Dominican. Although it is a private school they offer a lot of opportunities to pay of your tuition. I love it there. They have been so welcoming too!
As soon as I came onto the campus, I felt like I was going to fit in. Campus is very compact and every building is that in walking distance and it is very reasonable time to get to classes. But I enjoy the most, is being able to speak one on one with professors, and professor is being very supportive and there for us when we need them. The professors are very well educated in their field, and also are very comforting in times of help with life issues. Dominican university is a very beautiful campus and has wonderful staff were willing to help and offer a ton of resources for all students whether undergraduate or graduate. All majors are supported by staff and facilities are amazing by offering tons of activities. The students on campus are very helpful as well upperclassman help lower classmen, and everyone seems to fit in and no one is left out. My experience overall on campus is amazing. I will surely miss this place once I graduate. I would recommend this University for nursing
I love the college it’s safe . They also make sure everyone on the campus is active within it . I would want the school to be not so expensive
I would personally rate Dominican University 4 stars because they have an exceptional nursing program and many other programs. Academics is a major part of the school and they definitely have many ways to help students succeed. Your advisors are very important might I add because they are there to help guide you but not all advisors are not going to walk you through everything. They have a great athletics program, but I would suggest that they give some of their funds for better gear to the underdog athletics programs that aren't basketball or baseball. The campus is truly gorgeous all throughout the year. It was definitely something worth highlighting. The student life could be better, but they need to find better ways to accommodate for all different types of people. While creating an environment of fun. It's a dry campus so don't expect much. Lastly the mall and a few restaurants is where most of the fun happens. You will definitely need a car to get around.
Great private school for nursing majors. Close to the city and regions upstate. Easy 30 minute drive.
It is a small school where you can find all the approachable people when you need help. The campus itself is quiet and have safe surroundings. The buildings are always clean and nicely organized. The academic curriculums are beyond amazing. They have the best faculty members and well equipped overall. People from admissions are genuinely helping people with adequate information for students who need the most help. Personally, I have met some good professors in my area of study, which I love the most. The ratio for classes are reasonable and the communication with advisors is in high satisfaction. People in Dominican University know how and what to do properly with their students when they are in need or have questions to them. Most of the times I had no worries in terms of getting help either academically or personally because they care for you and have the best answers for each one of all students. I'm well satisfied with the school and the people in Dominican University New York.
Dominican is a well rounded academic school. The professors and classes are not very difficult, making a school and a social life manageable. The food on campus is okay, but has a lot of room for improvement. The student life is good, but with our large number of commuters, students that live on campus are slightly neglected. Dominican is a great place to get your education, with opposition to succeed.
My overall experience with Dominican college is quite pleasant. They work hard to pick the most prepared professors who will deliver quality in our education. These professors come from an array of professions where th3y bring their experiences into the classroom and into their methods of teaching to give their students the best education possible. They strive to make you want to succeed. Besides the professors they also offer programs that suit the needs of many including your traditional 4 year option, night classes and weekend options for those who work and have a busy schedule. This caters to many who want to make the effort to achieve an education by either in person or virtually online. The campus is absoutely stunning and well kept which gives students the motivation to stay as long as they please to either study in a nice, clean and quiet environment or to partake in activities the school offers. The school constantly makes an effort to make the students feel at home.
