Betrayed Love (The Montgomery Series Book 3) Kindle Edition
An age-gap, billionaire romance where secrets and revenge are embraced in a dangerous tango…
It began with lies. So many lies.
I was born unwanted. In pain. Addicted. A crack baby.
I was given a second chance, but I want a third. A fresh start—out from under my parents’ control. I was on my way to building my new life when my neighbor crashed into it, wrecking all my plans.
Heir to his family fortune, Henry Ward III, returned to Texas with a plan of his own. With burdens as heavy as my own secrets, he needed a distraction.
And with a man like him—who could own the boardroom and my body with one gruff gaze from his intense dark eyes—I was down for a distraction too.
Little did we know, his burdens and my secrets are so heavily entwined, there’s no way to untangle them.
I’m a Montgomery.
He’s a Ward.
We might as well be the Capulets and Montagues. Our connection is that rife with drama. That forbidden.
That dangerous.
When the past repeats itself, a distraction is the last thing we need. We need a lifeline as much as we need each other. The vicious cycle has to stop.
It’s life and death.

This one had some seriously steamy scenes, some intrigue, and FAMILY. I nearly couldn’t put it down.
My only issue is that I didn’t know it was an “insta love” trope before starting. I like to pretend in my head that this trope doesn’t exist and stretch the timeline into something actually realistic. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a HUGE fan of the author- her writing is enthralling. However, I just cannot get past some incredibly far-fetched situations, and a couple of them were present here, which makes me say 4.5 out of 5, or 8ish out of 10. I never do spoilers in my reviews, but I have to mention (optional stop reading point).
How on Earth is it realistic to fall head over heels, meet my whole family (most of whom I’ve never met!) 3 days after meeting you for the first time? It isn’t. My lord! It went from first meet to “I can’t live without you” and “baby” this & that in like a week! I mean, really? And another thing! A 22 year old pseudo virgin?! That’s my absolute most hated trope. I get it, she was sheltered… but if you are going to say she’s one of the “younger generation” and insinuate that those of us in our 30’s are ancient by comparison (bc texting is now only for the “old”? Come ON!)… I digress- but if you’re going to make your FMC plopped on the younger scale of adults in the 2020’s, for the love of Jesus, make it realistic! I do not believe a well-traveled, educated woman would be sexually abstinent in America in today’s society. Ugh, it just bugs me.
Regardless, this is a series I’m already recommending to friends.
Admittedly, I had to look back through Broken Halo to refresh my memory on Quinn and Trig’s relationship. It’s been a few years since I read it and was a little confused in the beginning. Regardless, once I started Quinn and Henry’s journey, I was hooked. I even fell asleep with my kindle hitting me in the face after I couldn’t stay awake any longer lol.
This was such an awesome book! I loved everything about it! Quinn and Henry were perfect for each other and even though it was fast, they fell into a rhythm that just worked. Nora was adorable and definitely added some sweet humor as only precious 4 year olds can. Seeing the Montgomery clan was also a great bonus. I remember reading Cam’s book and loving it and then when Jen and Ellie’s books came out I was an instant fan of this series and family. It was kinda like reuniting with long lost friends.
The dramas Quinn and Henry had to deal with were crappy and sucked, but I loved that even though they had to face challenges, it never came between them. I love a good plot, with lots of things happening, but I love it even more when our couple doesn’t split or have a drama between themselves. They faced each new challenge together as a team. It was sweet and spicy. I just loved it from start to finish. And the epilogue was also amazing. Getting to see how things were a few years down the road is always fun. Definitely recommend this book and series!
Summary:
Quinn Toussaint’s life has officially been turned upside down. She knew she was adopted. But she never would have guessed any of the secrets surrounding her adoption. Her adoption gave her a second chance. But she can’t help feeling betrayed. Betrayed by the very ones she has loved and trusted her entire life. Now she’s determined to get a third chance. The chance to really live. Live without expectations and being controlled by others. Too bad, her new neighbor is about to crash into her life and flip it on its ear once again. Henry Ward III never planned to return to Texas. It was the last place he wanted to be. With his family secrets on the verge of being outed, he’s forced to take over the family business. But he has a plan. What he doesn’t plan on is the distraction his pretty, new neighbor becomes. But maybe that’s just what they both need. A distraction from all the drama in their lives. Quinn and Henry soon learn that what they share is more than a distraction. But could it ever work between the newly found Montgomery, Quinn, and the heir to the Ward fortune, Henry? Their families are entwined in ways that suggest any interaction will be hostile. But Quinn and Henry need a lifeline and find that in each other. Can they work through the long-buried secrets and burdens that are linked to their families? To have each other, they’ll have to.
I really enjoyed reading Henry and Quinn’s story. They were a sweet and steamy couple, but had A LOT going on. Starting their story with that meet-cute was endearing, and I only fell more in love with their story from there. The great thing about Brynne’s books is her characters are not only fascinating as a couple, but individually as well. Quinn could be adorably stubborn, sweet, and loving. She had a rough start in life, and maybe stayed in her protective bubble a little too long, but I admired her strength and determination to be more independent. She really put in the work, fighting against her vulnerabilities as well as the contrasting feelings of love and betrayal of those closest to her. Henry swooped right in and stole my whole heart for the entirety of the book. Going in, I thought he’d be cold and unforgiving, and in business he was. But Henry’s softer side was everything. Strong, sweet, loving, loyal, determined and successful are the perfect adjectives for him. I completely swooned after seeing him with Nora, and the love he showed for both his mom and sister. As a couple, Quinn and Henry were everything. The banter between them kept me glued to the page. The start to and progression of their relationship also had me hooked. They started as friends of a sort, two people using each other as a distraction from the complications of real life. It evolved into so much more. And the steam that came along with that evolution was hot, hot, hot. In the end, Betrayed Love was everything I could have hoped for to draw this series to a close. I always love seeing past MCs and this was no different. Getting to catch up with Jen and Eli, Trig and Ellie, and the rest of the Montgomery clan is a highlight, and makes my heart happy. I also enjoyed meeting new characters like Nora. Kids always bring just that little bit more to a story, and Nora did it in a big way. Quinn and Henry did not have an easy courtship. They each had secrets and pasts that tried to keep them apart, but Quinn and Henry leaned on each other to get through. This story has a lot of heavy in it, but Brynne did an amazing job of guiding us through it without dismissing any of it out of hand. There were no easy fixes, and I loved that realistic aspect. I highly recommend this book, and the whole series. The Montgomery’s are definitely full of drama, but it is oh-so-good. ♡
So many sub-characters in this book that represented both good and evil making this a lovely story of survival and redemption.
