Synopsis
A television movie dramatizing the story of the Manhattan Project and the race to develop the atomic bomb. The saga revolves around three main characters: General Leslie R. Groves, the military man who spear-headed the endeavor; Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist in charge of the project; and Leo Szilard, a Hungarian Jewish physicist who escaped Nazi Germany with formulations for creating the then-theoretical nuclear chain reaction, and who labored to convince the British and American governments of the need to develop an atomic weapon before the Nazis did.
