Young diner waitress Alison and her husband, rancher Cole, are struggling -- personally and financially -- in the wake of tragedy. Noah, a settled teacher and would-be novelist, is summering at his in-laws' Hamptons estate with his wife, Helen, and four kids. When Noah meets Alison, they begin an affair. For her, he's a welcome escape; for him, she's a pretty distraction. But, the tryst eventually ends two marriages -- one that was already a bit shaky, the other that was on solid ground. Sally Newall Independent (UK) The Affair feels raw, both sexy and unsexy... but real, in a slick stylised package amped up with an evocative soundtrack. Everything's a contradiction, but I'm warning you, you'll fall for it. Oct 5, 2015 Full Review Gabriel Tate Daily Telegraph (UK) West and Wilson are astonishing, depicting not one but two three-dimensional characters as viewed through their own (as yet unexplained) biases, and sharing the sort of chemistry they don't teach at school. Rated: 4/5 May 21, 2015 Full Review Sam Wollaston Guardian The Affair becomes less and less obvious and more and more interesting as it goes along. May 14, 2015 Full Review Tom Fitzgerald and Lorenzo Marquez Tom & Lorenzo It's engrossing and it's definitely a case of the story being more than the sum of its parts. Jun 21, 2018 Full Review Ankita Chawla Scroll.in The Affair is the story of an affair in its most intense, psychologically-taxing, emotionally draining, inglorious reality. May 31, 2017 Full Review Euan Ferguson Observer (UK) It's all done with great style and skill, if an understandable frustration in hindsight on behalf of the third party, the viewer, to get at the objective truth. Loretta H I loved every season and episode of this show, the actors did a great job portraying the story that was very well written. I've watched all of 5 seasons twice and like any good movie or show I didn't want it to end. I wanted to see the characters grow old such as Cole, Helen and even Sierra. But was left wondering what happened to Noah's and Helen's kids? What happened to Janelle and her son after he got to Princeton? Very good show, well worth bingeing twice, and have happily referred to others. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/23 Full Review Ame L Very well done- turning and twisting Acting was fabulous! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This entire series is misogynistic crap. One star for beautiful shots of Montauk and Malibu. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review jackson m For the first 6 episodes it's hit and miss; derivative, yet intriguing at times. Once it adds some exciting elements out of left field it becomes addictive. The his/her narrative can feel obnoxious at times, given the (sometimes) wildly sharp swings between perspectives. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review rosey r Season 1 had me hooked. After watching 5 seasons, I am glad I invested the time into this gripping story-line that had many surprises. I did not like all the characters they introduced. Sometimes I felt it moved in a direction that was not best but overall I enjoyed 90% of the acting and characters. Season 5 had the most surprises and also a few episodes that I disliked the most. It did do a great job of wrapping up the stories of the most important characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Catchy storyline. Great acting and great setting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
