"Damn, if you don't love a fight."
— Barry to Wesker.

Barry Burton was an American soldier who served in the US Army from 1980 to 1998. In his final years he was an operator in the army's S.T.A.R.S. special operations taskforce under Colonel Albert Wesker.

Biography[]

Burton was born and raised in Macon, Georgia where he met his lifelong friend Albert Wesker.[1] The two joined the US Army sometime around 1980, where they participated in the 1983 invasion of Grenada and 1991's Gulf War. Burton almost perished in the fighting against Iraqi forces, and was saved only when Wesker disobeyed orders and sent a team in to rescue him.[1] In the mid-1990s Wesker received a promotion and assignment to S.T.A.R.S., a special operations team responsible for evacuating lab workers tied to the nation's top-secret bioweapons project in the event of a biohazard. All other team members were handpicked, including Burton himself.[2] For the next two years the team remained at their base in Washington, preparing for that eventuality.

Raccoon City incident[]

In 1998, S.T.A.R.S. received orders to rescue trapped lab technicians at a facility in Pennsylvania's Arkley Forest, travelling the 500 miles by helicopter. Alpha Team was immediately set-upon by hyper-aggressive guard dogs mutated by the T-virus. Barry was shot by Wesker in Lab D, before being finished by a Tyrant.

Further notes[]

  • Barry is described as a "muscular black man, as big as a grizzly, with the heart of a Teddy".
  • He often uses the expression "Even-Steven" with Wesker.
