Tokyo 2020 Marathon Swimming day 2: Dutchman Ferry Weertman aiming for men's 10km title defence

As the men's 10km follows on from the women's, here's what you need to know ahead of the second day of Olympic marathon swimming action at Tokyo 2020 on 4 August 2021.

What is happening?

Day two of Tokyo 2020 marathon swimming will see the second event, the men's 10km, followed by the victory ceremony.

The race is set to commence from 06:30 JST.

Who can I expect to see?

Dutchman Ferry Weertman has his sights set on winning back-to-back Olympic titles in the 10km swim when he lines up on the pontoon at the Odaiba Marine Park.

Weertman will have to contend with a quality field that includes German world champion Florian Wellbrock and Rio 2016 bronze medallist Marc-Antoine Olivier.

London 2012 champion Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia will also be hoping to be in the mix to add to his success from nine years ago.
