Full job description
Summary: Under direct supervision, receives Referrals from CSEA for local child support actions, and otherwise relieves Assistant Prosecutors of clerical work and research by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reviews referrals to assure proper information is provided.
Schedules appointments for Assistant Prosecutors; sets all local child support hearings and notifies all parties; prepares pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and court orders.
Obtains all information required by the Court to be presented by our staff attorneys at the hearings. All files are completely ready for the attorneys on hearing days.
Attends court hearings (especially bench warrants) if necessary, or if requested by Assistant Prosecutor or Court Magistrate.
Reviews each case to ensure completeness, research and acquire all material to complete file by discovery, personal contact with client or contact with case workers.
Composes letters of correspondence to clients, attorneys, and other courts if applicable.
Answers telephone calls and provides information to callers or appropriate officials, and places outgoing calls.
Reads and routes incoming mail. Locates and attaches appropriate file to correspondence to be answered by the Prosecutor.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
