Connecting to ATEM using WiFi

PostThu May 28, 2015 8:53 am

Hey hey :D

I've got no problem setting up a wired connection, however wireless is proving to give me a bit of a headache.

I'm using a BTHomeHub3 (Router), ATEM 1ME, Laptop (connects via wired network, doesn't work via WiFi), iPad (doesn't connect)

Router setup
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
WiFi setup: DHCP only (There doesn't seem the ability to change this - maybe my problem)

ATEM setup
IP:192.168.0.240
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1

Laptop (wired)
IP:192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1

Laptop / iPad (WiFi)
DHCP (after doing an ipconfig - it showed an IP of 169.xxx.xxx.xxx - can't remember exactly and I'm now at work!)

Do I need to manually configure the WiFi settings on my router? This doesn't have the option to so may need to buy one!

I have read on here about bridging connections, but not sure that applies? Surely if all the devices are connected to the router/gateway either via WiFi / wired connection then they should be able to communicate?

Thanks for your help!

I think, the router is the problem. 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is a ad-hoc address. I don't know your router, but it seem, that it don't give DHCP generated IPs through WiFi or DHCP don't work in general. The WiFi devices need IP from the same network subnet (192.186.0.xxx).

Set your Laptop manually to a right IP-Address. If this works, WiFi in general works.

Check your WiFi and DHCP settings at the router (by the way. Normally, the WiFi devices shouldn't have any connection to internet currently...)

Try to see the range of IPs of your router, maybe starting from xxx.xxx.xxx.1 it doesn't cover the xxx.xxx.xxx.240.
I use a tp-link router with no problem, even if running the atem control panel via wi-fi during a live of 5 hours i had 3 disconnection lasted 2-3 seconds each ones.
