《Ordinary People》虽然不如《It Don't Have to Change》原味，但也是专辑中一首很不错的灵魂乐单曲 [1]，不过表现出的气质匠气十足 [7]。
约翰·传奇的在深情略带忧郁的唱腔，配和《Ordinary People》中他自己的恋爱经验，倒也有些史提夫·汪达式的情歌韵味。让听者一下子回到节奏蓝调的黄金时代，重温马文·盖伊、史提夫·汪达所带给人们的那种对音乐的感动 [3]。
