This is quite possibly the most vulgar place I have ever booked. So much so that within the first 2 hours of our 3 night stay we checked out and checked in at the Days Hotel down the road. On arrival we were left to sit in a cramped 'kitchen' area until the staff finished talking to their mates and wereready to serve us. After checking in we headed up to the room in an elevator no more than 1X1m wide. We were greeted with a room which felt prison like. Despite its great size the room was empty and cold, probably due to the missing window pane. Naturally after a day of travelling we went to lie down, however the thin mattress, non-existent pillow and cockroach running up the adjacent wall made relaxing rather challenging. So, a change of plan; let's shower. Alas, in the bathroom we were met with missing shower curtains and toilet seats. Do not fret, however, what the bathroom lacked in toilet seats it certainly made up for in bugs, yes that's right, more critters on the windows, walls and in the sink.
Safe to say at this point we made a quick getaway. Please, save yourselves some money and dignity and do not even contemplate booking this place; ever.

Arrived at this hostel to no blankets on bed. No hot water . Staff not friendly . No wi fi only on ground floor. Place very dirty . Tiles missing . Advise people not to stay here . Very highly priced . It is in a good enough location only advantage but for a hostel very high priced . Terrible dirty place . Not very secured people can just walk in of street . Wouldn't advise a single person to stay here.

Bugs, constant fire alarms, smoking in the rooms totally ignored by staff, super uncomfortable, A/C non-existent, noisy. The photo says it all. This place should be completely condemned and lose its certification.

Disgusting! Unprofessional! Disrespectful, illegal and Rude, Jesse the desk worker, came into my room unannounced when there was a plumbing issue in the building, I am a severe asthmatic with a service dog and just came back from the emergency room, to check several bathrooms in the building had NO running water, which delayed me leaving the room "exactly" on time, I was 10 minuted delayed, when he entered my room (when there are plenty of woman working there) when he discovered I was undressed, instead of LEAVING he proceeded to stay in the room and talk about my service dog??? not be ing allowed? WHEN I HAD ALREADY BEEN THERE A WEEK! I went to return the keys, he threatens me that I would be barred from entering the hostel/hotel unless I could "prove" my dog was a service dog, long story short, police we're called, ladies be careful!! They also put men in the rooms WITHOUT telling you! ALL OTHER STAFF IS GREAT AND PROFFESIONAL THERE, but one bad apple can ruin your stay, be aware!

What an utter hellhole.

The bed. Oh my God, if you could call the hell that.

A room with one bunk bed. One up, one down.

I had the lower bunk, no-one on the top otherwise it would have been a nightmare to end all nightmares.

The bunk was an iron bar that was halfway down the bed running accross the hipline. You could do nothing to get away from it, it was impossible, right down the middle of the bed. A thin slice of cheap foam for a "mattress". You so much as breathed and the whole thing creaked like crazy. The bedding stank.

So, I rolled around on an iron bar all night, no sleep whatsoever setting off on a 30 hour journey back to the UK. I cried, a 47 year old man, so distressed with lethagy and bruises all accross my hips and ass.

What sort of monster allows people to suffer like that?

The owners of this wretched dump.

No humanity. For shame.

Noise everywhere. Patronising A4 warnings all over. Hovel of a tiny kitchen. But those beds, I'm not bothered about 1 star hostels, I've stayed in thousands the world over, but Ye Gods that "bed". Some people are wholly without moral compass and are quite evil.

No WiFi in rooms just a Brucey with this lot of vile grubs who bring shame on the industry and New York City.

August 2022. Would never spend another night at this hostel.
Felt extremely unsafe; our door did not lock properly and felt like it could be pushed in. There is no security system, with no special access to the building and the ability for anyone to walk straight up the stairs to the rooms. The shared bathroom had a large window in it leading to an outside stair case that would not close making it feel like anyone could jump into the room. There was a whole in the wall of our room hidden by a damaged cabinet, we have no idea where it went too.

Cleanliness is also a huge issue - the beds were itchy with bugs biting us (as well as uncomfortable with a metal beam across). Killed a beetle strolling across the floor of our room. Lots of trash from previous guests. Black mould in the corner by the radiator. The room and common area look nothing like the images on the website.

I understand we did not pay a large amount for however the lack of safety is a huge concern for female travellers. It honestly felt scary and isolated, especially with people in the corridor shouting ‘open up’ and shouting coming from around the building, leading us to barricade the door. We originally booked and paid for 6 nights, after one sleepless night we are not staying.

I would not recommend anyone staying here, yes it’s cheap and the location is ok (we didn’t get to explore fearful of leaving our belongings in the room), but honestly pay extra to know what you’re getting and safety. Don’t risk it.

The hostel is in a good location, between the Central Park and the Hudson River. Also, there’s a subway station right next door. The downsides are: 1) the beds, which were, by far, the most uncomfortable thing I have lied on. 2) in a 7 days stay, my room was not cleaned once. The bed sheets weren’t changed either. 3) the overall cleaning of the whole place was bad. I spotted 3 little cockroaches in my room. During the first days of my stay I thought “ok, I can handle this.” But tbh by the end I was thanking god I was leaving.

I booked a stay b/c there was literally no other options for hostel availability.

The long flight of stairs at entry was a nightmare for luggage. Nobody at desk would lift a finger.
The lobby was filthy with old dirty chairs. The elevator only fit 2 people or 1 w/ luggage.

Upon entering elevator a large cockroach ran across the floor.

The hallway to the room was both scary and dilapidated. The bedroom door was broken stayed ajar even locked.
The bedroom had mold & dirt covered ceilings/walls. The sound of the heater all night was like nails on a chalkboard.

I felt like I was in a horror flick.

Avoid this place at all costs

It was my first time to stay in hostels and it was the worst experience I ever had. The room was ok but it was winter and snowy outside and the heater in the room was not working at the entire stay. I couldn’t sleep because of the cold and the staff don’t bother at all with the complaint. They are the most unprofessional and rude staff I ever dealt with. The place is too old and filthy. Never stay here again and I don’t recommend to everyone.

It was very old and not very clean. I stayed for only one night with a friend in a double room with private bathroom (with no sink!) after ridind in the creepiest elevator ever. We booked here because it was cheap and last minute and being for only a night we just decided to adapt...but I definitely won't recommend it!

As far as I can remember there were bed sheets and pillows. But if you want to be on the safe side, bring a blanket, just in case.
