BFP charged me $1,850 for following work:

Closet Flange (Concrete) & reset toilet: Price $1,850
    . Empty and remove toilet
. Chip concrete around existing flange
    . Remove old flange
. Install new easy set or Case iron-type toilet flange
    . Reinstall toilet and test

    . Caulk base of toilet

The part is about $150 to $200. The work is about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. I am guessing the labor is about $800 to $900 an hour. Some people recommend me to reach out to the Attorney General and file a complaint.

My reason for contacting Benjamin Franklin Plumber’s was a toilet bubbling after flushing. I feared something much worse was going to transpire. I showed the first tech what my toilet was doing. The tech and proceeded to my basement, he then indicated I needed pipes replaced and some major work done. He kept looking at his phone. I kept asking what his estimate was. I thought I needed my system snaked from the house to the city hook up - I declined what he was proposing as I have had another Plumber do several jobs for him but he does not have the power snake system- so then the tech changed his recommendation and agreed I should have my system drain cleaned.

He was told by his boss I should pay half upfront. I declined to do that then he wanted me to agree to is half when the next tech arrived I agreed - when the second tech came he tried to get me to agree to what the first tech proposed. I said no so he got the snake machine with a camera gear in there and advised I needed my pipes underground replaced, at this point, I was very suspicious and told him I would think about it - paid clues to 900$ which was nothing compared to the 3,000, or 5,000 job they were trying to sell me- after he left my toilet continued to bubble so I at least knew my system had been power washed.

I called my plumber who has done work for me. He suggested these people were trying to scam me into unnecessary work. He snaked my toilet and laughed and said- there was merely an obstruction in my toilet which imagine my grandson dropped something in there, he charged me 100.$ end of story. I will never use Benjamin Franklin again.

I had a conversation with the owner, Kate. I 100% changed my opinion after talking with her. She and I talked through my issue and we came to a mutual agreement. I will use this company again and I will recommend this company.

My water was shut off and I needed someone quick. Nice guy, good job BUT, 30 minutes of work for $719. Parts were about $50 to $100. I am guessing the labor is $600 an hour? Holy crap. I would never use them again. My opinion is they are opportunists that catch you when you have no other choice. Some people call that price gauging. I will reach out to the Attorney General and file a complaint. I have called and e-mailed them with no response.

BFP, their name is fitting since your Benjamin’s is all they care about. If you want to throw away money and engage in a shouting match with extortionist call BFP. They send salesmen like David ** to inspect your job not plumbers as explained to me by his boss Felix **. Felix called the night prior to my install to inform me my job was undersold and if I wanted a pressure valve with my new tub/shower installation it would cost an additional $1800.00. Basically, they sell cars without steering wheels. I was told this was in my contract. Last I checked I am not a plumber to know what goes into the walls. I was under the normal understanding bath units give baths. I was forced to cancel the job. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. If a review could go viral, make it this one. Stay far away from this so called business. Proceed at your own risk you have been warned!

Had an emergency pipe burst and 5 other plumbers couldn't come out until Monday (it was Saturday). Thankfully Benjamin Franklin could come out. They told me it would be a $99 consulting fee and that was fine. What I didn't expect was their tiered rip off structured fees...wow. I needed an access panel cut to a broken pipe and a couple shut off valves installed. I ended up paying $642 for literally 20 minutes of work and he didn't even hook up the pipes to the faucet because that would have cost another $200. To install a faucet would have cost almost $1200. I am buying my own and having a local company install it. No chance they were getting another cent from me. Live and learn.

We could not get a clear idea of the charge for installing a new garbage disposal. The office said a technician would look at the job for $189; but that amount would be credited right back for the installation that he could do when he was here. We had bought the exact disposal, cleaned the area, provided a mat and microfibers. He said charge would be $362. What we bought the garbage disposal?? The repairman said if they had bought it with them it would be $680. The new disposal cost us $110-their charge for the same disposal was $250, according to the gentleman they sent. We would have cancelled their installation, but they would have charged us $189. For the trip. Benjamin Franklin doesn’t charge by the hour-but by the job-which they can’t quote you till they come to do the job. We felt we would like to help others. Avoid this lack of transparency!!!

We had a clogged toilet that I suspected a child flushed something In. Only plumber that could come out was Benjamin Franklin. I took the chance and I regret it. Took them forever and they charged us $659 to snake our drain. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
