Andrew P. Hill High School Reviews
Rating 3.38 out of 5 501 reviews
Being a student here is quite an interesting experience. Of course, there's pros and cons. But the pros very much outweigh the cons. The diversity here, for starters, is one of the best I've seen. From culture, religion, to overall backgrounds, Andrew P. Hill includes some of the most interesting groups of people you'll meet. There won't ever be a boring day here simply because of all the unique and complex stories that come within the people here. Not only that, but it is a fairly safe school. As a student, I feel as if I'm comfortable going to school everyday without the fear of anything happen. Additionally, the programs offered here are just amazing as well. There are many AP and IB classes that ensure bright futures for students. The teachers here also actually care about their students and do everything in their power to set them up for success. If I were to reccomend a school in San Jose, Andrew P. Hill High School would be at the top of my list.
Andrew P. Hill and its administration have been my robust support system throughout my high school years. Whenever I needed help, I could ask away. I am slowly getting ready for college and have had a lot of good experiences at this school. A prime example would be when I was at a low point mentally and I broke down in front of one of my teachers, but he gave me a different perspective on the problem I had. With those good experiences came bad experiences, though. Andrew P. Hill has a lot of roamers and people who don't go to school, but it isn't the school's fault. I feel as if outside factors cause them to skip class and the school makes strong efforts to help them go to class, but it isn't enough. I would like to see the food and the amount of people in class present change.
The overall atmosphere of the school is not the most welcoming, especially for people who are new to the area. Some aspects of the school that could compensate for this are the access to IB classes and the medical magnet, however I only ever saw benefit in one medical class that was offered.
