Still enjoy it!
DiCaprioFan14 October 2022
I have really enjoyed Chicago PD ever since it first started back in 2014. There are so many different police/crime shows to choose from these days that's it's hard to pick which ones to watch...watch this one. It shows how their unit investigates their cases. All the characters are well written with good back stories. That's what separates this from other cop shows, the characters development and the great cast that portrays these characters. I highly recommend this of your a fan of police shows. Every episode is satisfying and you can't say that about other cop shows. After ten seasons it's still one of the most entertaining cop shows on tv.

Worth Watching!
Supermanfan-134 October 2022
Chicago PD follows the Intelligence Unit as they investigated crimes in the city of Chicago. It's led by Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) who has a history of stepping over the line however he wants to get results. This series has a gritty feel to it that separates it from other police shows. The best thing about it is the cast (Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Jesse Lee Soffer, LaRoyce Hawkins, Sophia Bush, Tracy Spiridakos, Marina Squerciati, Elias Korea's, etc.). It's one show of a bigger Chicago Universe that they created along with Chicago Fire & Chicago Med. I personally think Chicago PD is far and away the best of the 3 and definitely worth watching.

PD is the best cop TV
jduyrhfngj14 January 2021
By far the best of the Chicago trilogy, and it's not even close. Voight is the best cop character currently on tv. I've already given up on Med, and am close to the same with Fire. I'm not into soap opera-driven storylines occupying the majority of an episode. I put PD in the same category as Streets of San Francisco, Hill Street Blues, The Shield and The Wire to name a few. That is the best TV available.

Strongest of "One Chicago"
arod_859 December 2021
This show is gritty, emotional, and clever. The story lines are pretty original and interesting, yet realistic. Sometimes the officers are forced to make some tough decisions that break law and I imagine this "gray area" is something police deal with more than we know. I like all of the characters in their own right. All are believable in their roles. This is by far the strongest of not only the Chicagos but of the Dick Wolf series.

keeps you on your toes

I really like how this show is done, i also like chicago med and chicago fire but this one so far is my favorite. I enjoy the action that keeps the show moving along at a really good pace, the mystery of trying to figure out where the show is goin before it gets there, and i've always liked cop shows so there might be a little bias on my part. So far im really liking the characters, the acting is pretty good and the overall story takes no time at all to get going so im invested in whats happening right away and im not having to suffer thro any slow burn type storylines. I think the action here is pretty good, the fights, the chases etc etc and overall its so far just a really good, action packed cop drama and i've always enjoyed those types of shows.

Great action drama
fatelovesthefearless9 January 2014
In my opinion this show as well as Chicago Fire (Of which Chicago PD is a spin off of) are the best cop, paramedic and firefighter shows since Third Watch.

Chicago PD is full of action right off the bat and although it may not be the most realistic or factual cop show it is entertaining which is what TV is meant to be. If i wanted to see something realistic id watch a reality highway patrol show... ZzzZz

If you like Chicago Fire Third Watch, SVU or any of those type of shows your bound to love this!

I'm hooked and i've only seen one episode.

Mahajke231 February 2021
This is my favorite show. I have rewatched all episodes of the whow at least twice. I love Hank Voight. He is amazing character and so badass but in season 8 they are trynig to change him beacuse of police reform and they are trying to change the show too! This season firsf 5 episode are the worst episodes of chicago PD so far.

A gritty, interesting procedural ... past its best
bosporan12 May 2022
This is the second best Chicago franchise series behind the short lived Chicago Justice. It was fabulous for the first five seasons, until Erin, played by Sophia Bush, left the show. Although Bush is a middling, one-note actress, she fitted perfectly here and was the glue that held things together and provided a contrasting emotional and integrity tone to the grittier, near-to-the edge style of the group.

Watched the beginning of season seven and it has lost its way, time for NBC to find something new for this slot now.

One man
poseidenx4 June 2021
This is a great drama series, the whole cast work so well together and anyone of them would be missed but as we have seen the show manages to still do well with a spot of new blood. However Voight's character is key, remove Hank Voight and for me there is no more Chicago PD.

I love this show Chicago PD but when took out Al that was the worst mistake you can make when Hank and Al got together you never knew what was going to happen this was the best show since the Untouchables but I still watch the show when AL was on there it was intense now it's okay.

One of my favorite cop shows
rkuzie21 May 2022
I love a good cop show and this one is definitely a great one! Great characters and development along with exciting plot lines. Season 8 was pretty terrible because they changed it completely to fit everyone's obsession with "all cops are bad" a few years back and I almost quit it. But season 9 was on par again! I am hoping it never ends and continues going in the right direction after the season 8 flop. I am impressed it hasn't become dull and repetitive for being on for so long!

Easily the best cop drama I've ever seen
vincewansink7 October 2021
I love this show because it's so smartly written. There are none of those yelling at your TV moments when the cop goes in without backup or lets his guard down at the worst moment or tries to be a hero all by himself. In this show the characters act like a real cop should. When they get shot at, or they find a body, or they see something suspicious, they immediately radio it in and request backup and backup arrives in a realistic amount of time. The investigative tactics they use are realistic and smart. They don't just "figure things out" or solve a crime on a hunch. They follow real leads, and sometimes those leads are dead ends and sometimes they run out of leads and don't get the bad guy. That's why I love this show. It's realistic and smart. Oh, and I give this show bonus points for keeping the woke stuff to a bare minimum. They did a couple of shows with a side story about racism last season, but it's not too bad (unlike SWAT).

Love it, but...
unacriaturadedios14 May 2021
Actually I liked it more when Voight was a tough cop, with his own code of justice, breaking the rules, ignoring some laws..that kind of his thing, that makes him Hank Voight! I am from eastern Europe and I don't know very well what happens in US, but I suppose that all these BLM movements, George Floyd's death had some impact to the show. It's really sad, when they change the main character to serve some political/social interest. It's not the same Chicago P. D now.

Love this show, story line and characters
sharonmacroun7 June 2022
I started watching pd and the other franchise's a couple monthes, and I have goto say I love them, Jason ie hank is a legend with his character along with the rest. With Gripping story lines that join with other chicago franchises and law and order suv, im glad I came across these, one of the best series I've watched. Love the lady that plays the sarge as well, recently watched the last episode "you and me" so fully caught up after watching from series 1 marathon, you won't be disappointed, all characters are brilliant, there's tears, deaths, and everything you want in this show.

Very good
bill-2552514 April 2021
I like PD, and the not-so-politically correct cops (as opposed to Blue Bloods). I am from Chicago, and I like seeing Chicago on TV. I get sooooo tired of New York and LA. I wish the street scenes made more of Chicago's fabulous architecture, historic neighborhoods, small business and gritty urban streets, instead of most of it being filmed in an industrial area. Law and Order uses New York very well in this regard. I wish PD would make better use of Chicago visually.

Amazing Show
claudio_carvalho6 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching "Chicago Med", "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P. D." randomly in Universal Channel. Soon I became addicted in "Chicago P. D." and decided to watch all the episodes in an one-month marathon. Sometimes I used to see ten episodes in only one day. The characters are wonderful and unfortunately some of them die (Olinsky, Nadia, Jin, Justin, Julie Wiilhite), and others leave the show (Antonio, Lindsay, Roman). There is crime, drama, action and romance in right doses and the episodes are never boring. Looking forward to seeing the eighth season soon. My vote is nine.

Cheap entertainment
zenmateisshite10 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Like other reviews have mentioned; the show is full of cliches, acting (or over-acting) is an issue, and the biggest problem is that the characters violate every rule on regular basis and act tough and self-righteous about it - it has become tiresome.

The episode last night I thought would see the end on Hank Voight but no, he managed to get away with it. By the way, he is the one and only person responsible for Al's death. No one in the squad challenged him on that. Antonio picked a fight in the previous episode but that's it. Voight is 90% good but 10% a very dangerous man. Even as a character if he resembles the slightest bit of reality he is what is wrong with cops in the US. The writers don't even show a hint of judgment, in fact they have been increasingly justifying and enforcing his obnoxious behavior (covered up to be vigilante justice) - It is ok to a certain degree but they are over doing it, very wrong and dangerous.

Bad on so many levels, I dunno where to begin
Eddie_weinbauer22 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
If you expect even a hint of realism, don't watch this show I started watching this, thinking it would be and entertaining action packed show. How wrong I was. The show is so stupid you laugh and snicker through almost all the serious emotional scenes. ****************Warning Spoilers*********Warning Spoilers*********** They have taken every cliché they could think off, from every cop show and Hollywood movie they get their hands on. The acting is sub par, stiff, and wooden. The lines are cheesy at best, horrible at the worst. Sophia bush may be sexy as hell, but as an elite cop she is not believable at all.She look, sound and act like cheerleader.

The rumor has it, the actors had to undergo SWAT training before the show. I got the impression the producers, threw all that out the window. They miss 90% of what they shoot at,they have to strain so NOT catch up with the suspect during running scenes. And they call 5,56mm cop killer bullets(that one really made me laugh)

They are suppose to be an elite unit of some sort, but you never grasp what kind. They call them self the intelligence unit, but they seem to be doing a lot of field work. And they seem have no limit either, as to what cases they can take on either. They even outrank the secret service. Not to mention they beat suspects, and violate every right any citizen has.But somehow they never get reported to media nor all over the internet You hardly ever see a forensic team, the cops step all over evidence and crime scenes.Nothing ever goes to court.

Every criminal is clumsy and stupid, and leave a long easy trail for cops to follow. Everyone confess after been spoken harshly to. They never ever ask for a lawyer. One scene the cops actually tell the lawyer to leave the room so they can question the suspect. And the lawyer obeys The cops actually break more laws than the the criminals. It get more comical when the cops drive around shinny new black SUV cars who never goes with the neighborhood they roll into.Yet nobody realize they're cops And search warrants? Who needs them. They can basically break into anyone house, they can harass you at your work, they can beat you, accuse you publicly of murdering your own kid.And they don't have to answer to anybody. No lawsuits no internal affair. No getting dragged through the dirt on the internet or in the paperers. These guys make the gestapo look like altar boys

Probably the best cop show since third watch
jc-131299 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Without question this show keeps you on your toes every turn. I love The way they try to keep it as if was a real police show. The action and actors are down right AWSOME. Voight is such an intense character that he makes the show. Don't get me wrong I love All the characters but his intense nature and the way he does what has to be done to get the bad guy just AWSOME. The only negative thing I have to say is Lindsey needs to come back ! Whatever reason she left for they need to correct and get her back. Also, the killing off of Al in season 5 just broke my heart. I understand characters get killed of on police shows, however, they are killing off to many. The loss of Roman was also hard to take. They should try to bring him back. He was an awesome addition to the cast. Lastly in season 5 Voight was not in as much as seasons 1 to 4. He was always with the team when they did anything. Now the team is doing more stuff without him then he shows up afterwards. They need to have him more scenes like they did in seasons 1to 4. But what an AWESOME show !!!!

Astonishing....
mharirbafan18 January 2014
OK. Somebody please tell me there is a number more than 10 for this pilot. I am surprised to see Chicago P.D., specially from NBC. It's more than anything I've ever saw from Television so far and I'm Speechless. The violence is used for this series is almost enough to not be scared about and is not more than you expect to be a drama series. In years I saw so many police dramas from different networks, Criminal Minds, Justified, The Closer, Copper, Cracked, Crossing Lines and Dexter, but this is different. The idea is fresh, the casts are Good, the plot is not Predictable (I think because I just saw the pilot), directing was good, visual effects are astonishing and the series is so far building to my expectations. I cannot wait to see more. Hope this will be continues in next episodes. 10/10.

Wonderful Show
rashadlholmes6 May 2014
I'm not going to even lie, I was a little skeptical at first about this show. However, after watching it the first couple of weeks, I was really impressed. I started to find myself enjoying the show much more than I expected. I like the fact that all of the characters have a story line. Chicago Fire was already a great show but I like how the producer incorporates both shows together. Detective Voight was not my favorite person in the world when I first encountered him. However, after watching the show this First season, he is my favorite actor on the show now. Chicago PD is starting to become my favorite show on television. The action is great along with the characters!

So Far Still Good But,
passionjewels14 October 2021
So this is my favorite so far of all of the Chicago franchises until the episode where this Hailey helps kill a bad guy so now she's freaking out over it? Seriously? Isn't that what cops are supposed to do is get rid of the bad guys? Here's a suggestion, can't handle it? Don't be a cop. The reason I've always liked this show is because of them crossing the line to get things done since lately some political groups commit crimes and go free while law abiding citizens who want to protect their families are demonized. So I ask one favor, please don't ruin another show by bringing in woke BS. Can't these Hollywood morons understand we watch television to get away from this crap? Or is that a rhetorical question? Because I'd hate to have to take another show off of my recorder. One other thing any employee who punches their boss in the mouth, hmmmm wouldn't he be fired??? Otherwise keep woke crap out. Still my favorite so far so I hope they don't ruin that one.

Formerly great but now trash
steveorr-015999 April 2021
First six seasons great. Season seven ok (barely.) Season 8 is terrible.

Every cop in the "elite" squad has become terribly unprofessional. Every one has some deep emotion that they act on and flaunt the rules (in a time when they are under scrutiny.)

Hank was the best but has just become some figurehead in Season 8. Everyone screws everyone else. Jay hasn't hooked up with Burgess, yet, so that is next. Haley probably goes to Kevin. Poor Hank gets squat. HA!

If you want to binge this, Seasons 1-6 will do it and then call it a day.

Poor show portraying cops without rules
Xavier_Stone2 July 2020
For all the 10 star reviews, I looked at the accounts, and not surprisingly most are single review accounts. A few have 5 ratings. jc-13129, pimbinha, and rashadlholmes and are at the top of the list, and are probably producer or writer extra accounts. But no amount of fake reviews or padded 10 star ratings can help the actual show. It's just borderline terrible, lots of aggressive cops doing anything, planting anything to get the bad guy. Everyone talks, everytime the cops get angry interrogating and everyone confesses, and all evidence is just so easily found. Every damn show.

It's the kind of show that fuels hatred of police.
zombiefan895 July 2018
Every single police officer on this show is corrupt to some degree. Beating, threatening suspects into a confession, which any REAL defense attorney could have thrown out. The lead character is quite partial to dangling people off the side of buildings and punching people until they confess. There's also a lot of cheesy drama, like a bad soap opera. It's worse than Law and Order in that regard. Again, it's the kind of show that fuels hatred of police. If anything, it can be used as promotion for body cams for all police, so that the fictional abuse of the suspects portrayed in the show could never happen in real life.
