Eastern Michigan University Reviews
Rating 3.57 out of 5 3,365 reviews
Eastern Michigan University was a transformative experience that deeply influenced my academic and personal growth. The opportunity to network with a diverse range of people expanded my perspectives and taught me valuable communication and interpersonal skills. Joining a Black cheerleading team at EMU not only honed my athletic abilities but also fostered lasting friendships and a sense of unity. My interest in the Divine Nine further fueled my enthusiasm for college life, reflecting my aspirations for leadership and community engagement. Despite challenges in navigating misunderstandings with professors, these experiences taught me resilience, effective communication, and understanding diverse viewpoints. Overall, EMU provided a nurturing environment where I thrived academically, formed meaningful connections, and discovered my passions, shaping me into a confident and driven individual prepared for future success.
Eastern Michigan University has a great academic experience. The professors are great, the programs are great, there are some programs that are the one of the only ones the state/country, such as the pilot program or the paralegal program. If you’re a student looking to only do the academic portion of college and not look for other aspects of the typical college life, I would recommend this school; it has a huge commuter population and is great for those who want to leave after classes and not get involved.
However, for those who look for more out of the college experience, it may be a bit lackluster. The food isn’t great, the dorms are okay now that they’re being built/renovated; you can make decent friends out of the clubs and organizations here, but it likely won’t be like going to a larger school.

My experience at Eastern Michigan University is characterized by a strong sense of community among students. The campus environment was friendly and inclusive, making it easy to form connections and build lasting friendships. The presence of numerous clubs and Greek life organizations added to the vibrant campus culture, offering students various avenues to get involved and pursue their interests outside of academics. However, one of the challenges I encountered was the university's size. While the close-knit community was a strength, it also meant that there were fewer options when it came to clubs, organizations, and food choices compared to larger schools. This limitation sometimes made it feel like there were missed opportunities for diverse experiences and activities.
