Mafioso (1962) is a black comedy directed by Alberto Lattuada and starring Alberto Sordi. The film follows the story of Antonio Badalamenti (Sordi), an ordinary Italian man who is sent by his employer to Sicily on a business trip. While in Sicily, Antonio discovers that his cousin is a mafioso and is asked to complete a mission for him. Antonio agrees and must now confront his conscience as he plunges into a world of organized crime. As he interacts with a variety of cultural and social elements, Antonio finds himself torn between his former life in the north and the world of the mafia in the south. In the end, Antonio must decide whether to accept his role in the mafia or return to his life in the north.
