Federer, 41, made the announcement in a video tweet addressed to his “tennis family and beyond,” thus wrapping up a legendary career in which he won 20 Grand Slam singles titles and 103 ATP tour singles titles overall. Although the Swiss star has no plans to play in any future ATP matches, he will play in the Laver Cup, a team competition in London that kicks off Friday, Sept. 23.

Federer has been married to his wife Mirka (a former tennis player herself) since 2009. The couple have four children — twin girls Myla and Charlene and twin boys Leo and Lenny. The family has a home in Switzerland along the shores of Lake Zurich as well as in Dubai, where they own a penthouse apartment. They also have properties in the Swiss Alps and South Africa.
