Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times An entertaining, adeptly crafted documentary that treats its provocative subject matter with refreshing respect. Rated: 3.5/5 May 1, 2009 Full Review Andrew Barker Variety In contrast with Grecco's evocative photos, his film is scattered and platitudinous, skimming the surface of his subjects and betraying his high-art aspirations with a shallow E! aesthetic. May 1, 2009 Full Review Sean Axmaker Seanax.com It's less a documentary than a promotional video for [director Michael Grecco's] book... May 2, 2010 Full Review Brian Orndorf DVDTalk.com There's plenty of nudity, famous porn faces (don't worry, Ron Jeremy shows up), and a few respectable stories, but an overall arc of an idea with all this siliconed commotion? It never arrives. Rated: C Apr 25, 2010 Full Review Bill Gibron Filmcritic.com As a look inside the porn industry itself, it barely scratches the surface. Rated: 3/5 Apr 23, 2010 Full Review Pete Hammond Boxoffice Magazine Whether Grecco, with his awestruck, sycophantic narrative style is really just doing this all tongue-in-cheek or it(TM)s a legitimate attempt to get inside the industry is debatable"but, for as far as it goes, it works. david f This is actually a mature, sensible documentary about the annual porn convention in Las Vegas and accompanying AVN Awards, the Oscars of porn, they call it. It's made by a photographer but the brief interviews with people who work in the adult film industry are revealing and capture the business as a way of life for a group of folks who treasure their eccentricities and differences instead of trying to hide them or deny them. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member There has been a number of docs about this industry and I think the filmmakers do an admirable job. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member An oldie but SUCH a goodie! Really enjoyed the in-depth look at this industry. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I found Naked Ambition to be an interesting insight into X-rated Entertainment. I felt like the documentary did a good job at humanizing a demographic of society, that is often over-looked as being obscure, and taboo. It was interesting to see how closely the professional goals of people in Adult entertainment industry mirrored the professional goals found in any other industry. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I've always been fascinated by this industry. Especially living in LA. I've met and known a number of women who are very comfortable living this lifestyle and doing it quite successfully, though I'm not sure that's the norm. I found the film very interesting and it certainly gave me more insight into a subject that many aren't willing to admit that they are interested in. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film. Funny about the porn industry Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
