Client Setup

If you are a BSc or MSc student then your mail is in Exchange Online and the information below does not apply to you. Instead use the instructions for client setup here and access to web mail here.

Mail Configuration

The generic setting for connecting to the mail server are as follows:

Server	Host name	Port configuration
POP mail server	`mail.ethz.ch`	POPS, use SSL over port `995`
IMAP mail server	`mail.ethz.ch`	IMAPS, use SSL over port `993`
SMTP (outgoing mail)	`mail.ethz.ch`	SMTP using STARTTLS over port `587`
MAPI	`mail.ethz.ch`	-

Allways use password authentication using your ETH user name and mail service password.

Address Book Configuration

Use the following configuration to use the ETH address book in your mail application:

Parameter	Value
Hostname	`ldap.ethz.ch`
Port	389
Base DN / Search Base	`o=ethz,c=ch`
Bind DN	(none)
Password	(none)
Scope	Subtree / `sub`
