The first ‘Step Up’ movie was released in 2006. It featured heartthrob Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. The movie was successful with the audiences due to its overall story and soundtrack. At a party, brothers Mac and Skinny, along with friend Tyler, clash with their rival PJ, who is involved in car thefts. After the trio vandalizes the Maryland School of Arts, Tyler takes the blame and is sentenced to 200 hours of community service, where he observes Nora Clark’s dance class preparing for a crucial audition performance.
2. ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ (2008)
In Baltimore, Andie West, dealing with the loss of her mother, immerses herself in street dancing with her crew, the 410, to maintain their top ranking in the illegal competition “The Streets.” Encouraged by her friend Tyler, she auditions for the Maryland School of the Arts, leading to her expulsion from the 410, but she forms a new crew with classmates and prepares for the competition while navigating personal challenges.
3. ‘Step Up 3D’ (2010)
In New York City, Moose, studying electrical engineering at New York University, is drawn back into the dance world when he encounters a dance battle led by Luke Katcher. Luke convinces Moose to join his crew, the House of Pirates, to compete in the World Jam Championships and win the $100,000 prize to save their financially troubled warehouse club.
4. ‘Step Up Revolution’ (2012)
In Miami, The Mob, a flash mob crew led by Sean Asa, gains attention by shutting down Ocean Drive with a dynamic performance. After watching their success on the news, the crew, who work as waiters, sneaks into their workplace’s beach club to enjoy their time off.
5. ‘Step Up: All In’ (2014)
In Los Angeles, Sean Asa and his dance crew, The Mob, struggle to find success and face financial challenges. After losing a dance battle to the Grim Knights, they decide to return to Miami, feeling unprepared for the competitive dance scene in Los Angeles.
6. ‘Step Up: High Water’ (2018-2022) – TV Series -3 Seasons
In the series, ‘High Water,’ twins Tal and Janelle move to Atlanta and enroll in the city’s highly competitive performing arts school, facing constant challenges and tests both in dance and their personal lives. As they strive to pursue their dreams, the duo learns the extent of their determination and the sacrifices required to seize their moment at High Water.
7. ‘Step Up: Year of the Dance’ (2019)
‘Step Up: Year of the Dance’ is a Chinese spin-off film in the ‘Step Up’ franchise. The story revolves around a dance student, Qingming, who is expelled from his dance academy due to a fight. He teams up with a street dancer, Tian, to form their own dance crew and compete in a street dance competition. Together, they blend traditional Chinese dance with street dance elements, aiming to prove themselves and make a mark in the dance world.
