Angel Manzo Arrested after Atwater Crash on Highway 99 and Westside Boulevard
Atwater, California (June 28, 2022) – 47-year-old Angel Manzo has been arrested following a wrong-way collision that happened early Monday morning in Atwater, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The accident happened at around 1:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, on Highway 99 near Westside Boulevard.
Per the report, Manzo was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 before he caused a multi-collision. Manzo attempted to avoid oncoming vehicles and it was during this time his 2014 Mercedes sedan drove into a construction zone, veered off the roadway and hit the center divider.
It was reported that four cars collided in a chain reaction as they tried to avoid Manzo's car. A driver in one of the cars complained of pain and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
No one else was injured in the crash.
Officials later arrested Manzo on suspicion of DUI, driving with a license revoked for DUI, causing bodily injury, and driving the wrong way. He was booked into Merced County Jail.
An investigation is underway.
