US Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman has narrated how President Joe Biden convinced her to come to Kenya.

Speaking on JKLive, Whitman said that after Biden won the 2020 election, he called her and said he wanted her to be an ambassador.

The US President then said he would like her to come to Kenya.

“I got involved in politics and ended up supporting Hillary Clinton and then Joe Biden, which was a thing because I was a Republican who jumped ship to the Democrats and Joe Biden after he won, he called me and said Meg I'd like you to be an Ambassador and before I could say anything, he said and I would like you to go to Kenya,” Whitman said.

She went on to say that after the request, Biden explained that Kenya is the capital of technology in East Africa and her background would help make it the capital of tech in Africa.

The Ambassador said that Biden said her background in technology and business would help push this.

Whitman added that he said her leadership would also make a statement to the world that Africa matters to the United States.

“He had a great pitch, he said Kenya is the tech capital of East Africa it should be the tech capital of the continent.

“I have a deep technology background and he said I think that's important and America needs to pay more attention to Africa and I think sending someone with a business background like you will send a signal to the continent that Africa really matters to the United States.”

Biden nominated Whitman to be ambassador in December 2021. She was confirmed in June 2022 by the Foreign Relations Committee and the US Senate
