White Lies Starring Brendan Daniels & Natalie Dormer

White Lies follows a newspaper reporter, Edie Hansen (Natalie Dormer) while she tries to prove her niece and nephew's innocence in the murder of her brother, Andrew (Langley Kirkwood).

Edie has been estranged from Andrew for years over minor differences. Andrew's children, Daniel McKenzie (Daniel Schultz) and Jamie McKenzie (Morgan Santo) know very little of Edie. After Andrew is murdered in their home, they have the change to meet their Aunt Edie who they do not take kindly to.

One major problem, The Daily Mercury, keeps getting in Edie, Jamie, and Daniel's way of building a real kinship.

I made it past the second episode when the show became less about solving a murder and more about bashing white people. Unbelievable, ridiculous rubbish with a scoop of dog poo on top.

I am making my way through the series very slowly. I really didn't mind it early on, but it's losing my interest very quickly. In the pilot episode, I was surprised by the married couple having sex in the middle of a murder scene without any repercussions. Just made the whole thing stupid.

The second episode got worse when Pearl and her boyfriend are having sex. Those graphic scenes are totally unnecessary and add very little. Agree it's getting incredibly political when that's not needed either. "The heart of white privilege is rotten but is it a disease that can turn to murder?"

They're going on and on about a rich white family eating itself. That's somehow got something to do with white privilege when it's a supposed white-on-white crime. Cringe. Make it make sense lol. Natalie doesn't look particularly good here, but no one could save the story which is quickly worsening. It just doesn't take itself seriously enough. One of the weaker South African shows in recent months.

A crime thriller, not! It is losing me with the liberal undertone and grotesque sex scenes. The bickering back-and-forth between Forty and Edie are bad enough but this is nothing compared to the unnecessary agendas.
