Vernon Reid pens the notes! ~~~ Ever restless as a musician and constantly changing directions and trying new things, guitarist Jeff Beck is difficult to reduce to a 14-track overview, although this set probably does as well as one could at sketching in the portrait. Beginning as a guitarist for the Yardbirds in the 1960s, Beck hit his stride with the Jeff Beck Group (which featured a then relatively unknown Rod Stewart as lead singer) later in the decade, and "Shapes of Things" (initially a radio hit for the Yardbirds), "Plynth," and "Beck's Bolero" are represented here from that era. Also here are several of Beck's mid-'70s fusion tracks, including "Freeway Jam" and "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat," as well as his 1980s reunion with Stewart, “People Get Ready.” Again, Beck is a difficult artist to capture in a single-disc drive-by, but for folks curious about this fine guitarist and wanting a quick sampler of his work in several of his various guises, this set works fine as an introduction. ~~~ AllMusic Review by Steve Leggett

This disc gives you a few tracks from every album he had done. Being that Jeff continued to evolve as a guitarist and went even further out, means you won't hear anything from there. I would consider this just a sampler, and some fine moments indeed, but Jeff had a whole bunch more of interesting takes, such as the Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps tribute he did, called Crazy Legs, his excursions into techno, bits of industrial, and more stuff. Plus there are many LIVE records that show how he shared the spotlight with many incredible players. Beckology the 3 CD set expands on this Best Of, but if you want to introduce a newbie to Jeff, this is a nice starter.

I believe Jeff Beck to be one of the most accomplished guitarists in my lifetime. This is some of his most enlightened music. Mr. Beck takes an electric guitar and makes it sound as no other has. His style is to get sounds from his guitar that are unique and inspired. If you enjoy guitar playing that goes beyond just the screaming guitar in a band, get this CD and see what can be done in the right hands. I recommend this music.

Jeff Beck has made a lot of good music over the years, and with a lot of different people. My primary interest in this MP3 was the song "Going Down" I have two different versions of this song and although they're done by different performers Ihave a tough time deciding which I like best. This version is longer and features some dame good piano works. Now I bought the download primarily for this one song, but there's plenty of gems on this album. I'm not really sure what the "Clean" status after the title is all about. I've never really known Jeff beck as having "Dirty" versions before. Kind of a strange rating, but who knows with all the PC people out here now days......

I received the CD within the given time limit and in perfect condition, both disc and cover.

Unfortunately I came late to appreciate the huge range of music Jeff Beck played and only knew him from his Yardbirds days. It's a great showcase for his incredible range and talent and I would highly recommend this to anyone discovering his music. Fans will probably already have most of these tracks on other CDs. I was led to this by the sad obituary given by Brian May who played the astonishing Where Were You? and which stopped me in my tracks. I had never in my life heard a guitar produce those sounds. Get this if only for that, if nothing else, but it's all good.

I have loved Jeff Beck's guitar work since my teens (mid 60's) when he was with the 'Yardbirds', absolutely fantastic.
On re-visiting some of my old favourite performers I chanced upon this little gem. I previewed it and decided to buy it, (I would have preferred an LP version but none made), I was not disappointed. The musical collection on this cd is phenomenal and Jeff's playing and versatility is unbelievable. It's brought back fond memories and a renewed interest to explore more material. The seller's service was first class and fast. The cd was classed as used but is in perfect condition, so thank you yee-ith for great service, excellent product and good value.

I heard a beautiful guitar solo from this album on the radio, then I heard a duet with Rod Stewart. So decided to buy the album thinking all the music would be like that. But no I only played a few of the tracks and to me it sounded like, we'll I can only describe it as if he was tuning the guitar up as loud as possible, why do the disc jockeys just pick out the two best tracks leaving punters to think they are all on that type of MUSIC. Another disc half played and given to charity shop.
