The Duke of York’s is one of London’s best known and most historic mid-size playhouses.
The theatre was designed by Walter Emden and opened on 10 September 1892 with a production of The Wedding Eve by F. Toulmouche.
The first ever production of J M Barrie’s Peter Pan opened at the Duke of York’s theatre in 1904, and such was its immediate popularity that it was revived every Christmas for the next ten years.
A myriad of celebrated productions over the years have included Half Life with John Gielgud, Clouds with Tom Courtenay and Felicity Kendal, and American Buffalo starring Al Pacino.
