Separated at birth and unaware of each other's existence, the girls have led very different lives. Emma is a kind-hearted foster kid while Sutton was adopted by wealthy parents and lives what is seemingly every teenager's dream life. When Emma learns about her long-lost twin, the teens are eager to meet each other but ultimately agree to continue living their separate lives. That is, until Emma has an unfortunate encounter with her foster family and flees to the only person to whom she can turn -- Sutton. When they meet, Emma agrees to step into Sutton's life for a few days while Sutton searches for their birth mother. But when Sutton fails to show up at the time the girls agreed to meet again, Emma must decide whether to come clean about her identity, and put herself at risk, or continue secretly living Sutton's life. Rated: C Aug 15, 2011 Full Review Geoff Berkshire Variety If the target audience can endure tortured dialogue like, "A lie's a lie, but if the reasons are reasonable, then maybe you can forgive the lie," then, truth be told, "Lying" might stay in the game for awhile. Aug 15, 2011 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times Pretty Little Liars managed to find an organic groove, and there's reason to think this close cousin can also find its feet and walk. Aug 15, 2011 Full Review Leigh Raines TV Fanatic If the mark of a good show is when it leaves you wanting more, The Lying Game definitely accomplished that goal. Rated: 5/5 Oct 16, 2018 Full Review Emily Ashby Common Sense Media The content is fairly mild for the teen set, with minimal violence and marginal language... and only kissing and some physical contact within relationships. Rated: 4/5 Oct 16, 2018 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "The Lying Game" is not great television by any means but it's an adequate teen soap. Aug 15, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews
