Reopening Information for the 2021-2022 School Year

Dear CASD Families,

In just a few short weeks, CASD schools will open for the 2021-2022 school year. As staff prepare for reopening, we remain committed to ensuring our students and staff return to a safe environment. As such, the CASD Board of Directors approved the required 2021-2022 CASD Health and Safety Plan on July 27th, at a special board meeting. Please take a moment to review important details from the plan below:

  • Full In-person Instruction: Beginning August 23rd, students will return for 5 day-a-week, full in-person instruction.
  • Face Masks: The use of face covering by students, staff and visitors on school property is optional except for the instances described below:
    • Buses: Face coverings are required under a Federal Order on public transportation, which includes all school vehicles (buses, vans, etc.).
    • School Health Suites/CASHS Keystone Health Clinic: Face coverings are required and will be provided in school health suites and in the Keystone Health Clinic at the Chambersburg Area Senior High School for students, staff and visitors.
  • Symptom Screening: Parents/guardians and students are encouraged to continue conducting a symptom screen each morning before coming to school.
  • Contact Tracing: The district will continue to work with the PA Department of Health concerning incidents of COVID. The district will provide information on our reopening page regarding incidents of COVID.

The full health and safety plan can be found at the CASD reopening page here
