It's a bit all over the place, but this movie still manages to rise to mediocrity with its tale of two citizens from no-cow Texas going to Nashville to make their fortune.

This amiable Southern drive-in comedy stars Jesse Turner and Dennis Fimple as bumbling small-town cowboys who hope to become stars in Nashville. They set out from their one-horse town in a dilapidated pick-up truck and have several adventures along the way. In one subplot swiped from another movie with SMOKEY in the title, they pick-up a pair of girls, one of whom has ditched her dimwitted fiance. Aiding him is Tennessee redneck sheriff Slim Pickens, who has a particular dislike for Texas cowboys. No surprises here but the leads and Pickens generate a lot of goodwill and some of the songs aren't bad either.
There is a certain charm to these low budget Southern fried flicks that I kinda dig. Yeah, most of them aren’t the best, but they usually are a good time.
Slim Pickens is a national treasure and I could watch him scream and cuss all day.
Zero budget and so desperate to capitalize on the Burt Reynolds/Jerry Reed wave that is's sometimes uncanny, still there is something watchable that keep things moving along at an entertaining clip in this Hickspoitation drive-in time-waster.
