Snowpiercer — cancelled 11 months ago by TNT and in turn left without a home for its completed final season — will find new tracks for its farewell rotation, says cast member Mike O’Malley (who plays former brakeman Sam Roche).
Back in January, when TNT announced it would not air Snowpiercer‘s already-completed fourth and final season, Tomorrow Studios CEO/partner Marty Adelstein and president/partner Becky Clements said in a joint statement, “We love Snowpiercer and believe Season 4 completes a story with incredible talent that will entertain viewers while exploring issues of climate change and class warfare.”
As such, Tomorrow Studios acquired the rights to control the franchise and began searching for a new partner so that the dystopian drama could “finish a great ride with the final season.”
TVLine recently asked O’Malley (creator of the midseason NBC comedy Extended Family) if and when Snowpiercer‘s swan song might see the light of day. “I’m trying to get an answer on that,” he said, noting that Season 4 boasts “incredible storytelling done by our [new] showrunner Paul Zbyszewski.”
The first three seasons of Snowpiercer were scrubbed from Max not long after TNT bailed on airing Season 4, though they have been streaming internationally on Netflix. “But that entire fourth season is in the can and that’s going to end up somewhere,” O’Malley affirmed.
Season 4’s cast additions included Clark Gregg (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD) and Michael Aronov (The Americans), while the aforementioned Zbyszewski succeeded executive producers Graeme Manson and Aubrey Nealon as showrunner.
Asked if Season 4 was written at all as a final season, O’Malley told TVLine, “We were actually hoping that we’d keep going, but I think there’s an ending to that where it could be the end, and it’s very hopeful…. So I really, really can’t wait for that show to get out there and for people to see it, because it’s awesome.” — With reporting by Ryan Schwartz

Was season 4 still a French co-production? I know the first 3 aired in France so I was hoping season 4 would at least air there so would be streamable online…
The wait is killing me and I hate hearing that season 4 was not written as a series finale. For whatever reason, I absolutely love this show.
One of Zaslav’s worst mistakes was not allowing the completed season to air. Disgusting to those who worked on the show and to the fans.
I completely agree with you. Ita a bit of a kick in the teeth to the fans
The episodes are already ready to go! It would be cruelty to let it go to waste.
Netflix Canada Airs the other seasons like Originals, maybe they will pick it up?
Put Snowpiercer on the CW?
$$$
LOL – yes, their current programming plan seems to be to just pick up cast-offs or canceled shows, doesn’t it?!
.
(I’d prefer Snowpiercer to end up an a cabler or streamer, though, because CW is badly editing/cutting the shows it’s been picking up.)
It has a chance of ending up airing there. But really depends on the price.
That’s actually a probability. The CW is desperate for shows that are already in the can and all they’d have to pay is licensing.
I just find it very sad that Snowpiercer season 4 is out there somewhere, like in limbo. While fans just keep waiting and being put off. We want to see it. It is bad enough that it’s the last season. The end of the short but amazing era. Why are we being made to wait sooooo long after it’s been completed. It is just not fair to the fans. Just give us a date. Would like to see it now, but if you say well not till October 5th, then fine! But show it October 5th and quit playing with us. Just because you can. It’s not nice and frankly mean. Isn’t the world full of enough mean things that this is something easy you can fix? Hello?
Tubi or Freevee or Pluto,a free service.
Please, not Tubi! They picked up Nevers part 2 and it’s impossible to watch there since it’s not available on-demand and only streams on a random schedule that is just not reasonable. And of course too many ads that cut into the middle of scenes. Ouch!
This seems liek it should be a no brainer for Netflix. They can reshow the movie and first three seasons and make teh final season a big event.
Here’s a thought: Peacock should try to get it. I just read they’ll be profitable for the first time in 2024-Q1, so throw some money at it to acquire Snowpiercer, put it on the premium tier and bring with it a loyal audience who wants to see how it ends, which grow that subscriber base.
Really enjoyed Season One of Snow Piercer. Not so much after that.
I think Netflix should give its international subscribers this ending to the story. I’ve watched all 3 seasons on Netflix here in Brazil. I’m awaiting this season.
Seria muito triste perderem uma oportunidade como essa.
Showpiece was one of my favorite shows. I can’t wait for it to come back for season four and hopefully more.
I love this show! The writing was great and acting was superb.
As I posted before I don’t understand why this series has not been shown. On one hand you have a completed fourth season … on the other hand you have shows being set back months and months due to the writers’ strike and other issues. So it just made sense (I foolishly thought) for some network to show the scripted series instead of showing reruns or importing shows from Mars or unscripted “reality” shows that are just painful to watch.
If not for the vanishing of physical media, a direct-to-disc “Final Season” set would be the way to go. Never before has so much entertainment been created only to be completely withheld from the public on all fronts. No discs, no streaming, no nuthin’. It’s an absolute shame.
These companies are all about the money. The cancellation of Snowpiercer was a tax write off decision for TNT.. Absolutely no consideration for the public that support them. Netflix also has a habit of suddenly dumping some great shows after 1 or 2 seasons, usually with a hurried ending or none at all even if the ratings are still high, then they wonder why they lose market share. Their adds tell us how great they are but money is their only consideration when making these decisions
Cheers I’ve had my rant HaHa
It would be even better if we got news about Heels finding a new home for future seasons.
We want to see the 4th season!! PLEASE
Really surprising that no one would want to air an already completed season… is the studio asking for too much money or something?
It was more profitable to write It off as a tax loss..That’s all
Stupid to cancel such a great show, especially when the whole season is done and it’s ready to go.
I’m surprised sci-fi channel didn’t pick it up. They could use a winner.
Theres so little new content on the platform due to the strikes. Someone should have jumped on this ready made content.
I’ve been waiting to hear about an ending to this incredible show. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
Will AMC pick it up?. We need to see the final season. Best series I have seen in a while. We need to know how it ends.
I am so sick of getting vested in the series and then being dropped. The same was done with Outsiders. Sad….
i had the same problem with skinwalker. now you have to pay them a monthly fee to see anything.
I LOVE this show. Hopefully we can see season 4 soon. Can’t wait to see how it ends! Great job actors!
I really liked the show and can’t wait to see it. Would love for there be more seasons
I can’t understand why it could not have been aired on TNT. The show absolutely needs to be aired and finished. I absolutely loved it and I’m sad that I won’t get to see it anymore, but we need to see the last season. Ultimate cliffhanger
yeah Netflix had the streaming rights pretty much everywhere outside of the US, so it seems a bit weird to me that they haven’t picked up the show or at least the final season.
