My account requires parental consent, even when account age is over 13 - Java Edition Support - Support - Minecraft Forum - Minecraft Forum
(Maybe this is not the right section to post this, but Mojang Account / Minecraft.net Support has been archived.)
I never play Minecraft, but a friend of mine wanted to start a Minecraft Realms server. Nobody had a problem with joining his server, except me.
When I click the Realms button in Minecraft, a message pops up regarding new EU privacy laws. It says that Minecraft follows these laws by not allowing children under the age of 13 to edit their account settings and to enter Minecraft Realms (along with other things) without their parental consent. It says that I have to update my account, which also requires parental consent. My account has already been migrated to Mojang, so that is not the problem here.
However, I am 15 years old. My minecraft.net account even shows my birth date, which is clearly over the age of 13, and yet I can not access Minecraft Realms. I thought that contacting Mojang would solve the problem, but they ask a lot of information beforehand and it takes about a month to get a reply, which is not even guaranteed to fix this issue.
Perhaps there is another reason as to why I can not access realms or my account settings. If that is the case, I would like to know what it is, but I think it is just a mistake.
Is there anything I can do to not require parental consent? Or am I missing something?

Thanks for that, it solved my problem. My country requires me to be over 16 years old and not 13.
