I don't know much about the situation of Takayama, it was crowded many places in Japan during the 3 days off from 24th to 26th last year.
I wondered if you can drive there even if it's snow. It snowed on the 16th Nov. last year.

Yes - full hotels and restaurants. Takayama is a popular destination especially for a holiday weekend.
