Born on September 25, 1989, John “Jack” Schmedtje Sullivan passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 33. He is survived by his loving parents, Tommy and Cathy, his brother Peter, his grandmother Ganky, aunts and uncles (Susan, Tracy & John, Danny & Brenda, Julie Ann & Eddie, Sandy, Pete & Gretchen, Charlotte & Octavio, Keith), cousins (Laurie, Amy, Meg, Tierney, Campbell, Sarah, Dan, Caitie, Max, Elliot, August, Christopher, Mathilde, Ellie), best friends Will and Hank, and his best buddy Buster. Jack graduated from Trinity High School in 2008 as “Mr. Trinity” and earned an Associate Degree from Sullivan Technology School of Design.

Jack led a life filled with many passions. He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Chicago Cubs, and UofL Cardinals. He loved movies and devoted many hours to his Movie Maestro blog. He spent many hours with the COD Squad, perfecting his game of blackjack, and excelling at trivia nights with Hank, Campbell, and Walker. Jack brought joy to so many and will always be remembered for his quick wit (thanks to his Dad), his laugh and his eye roll (usually aimed at Mom). Jack visited every Major League Baseball park with Dad and visited every sushi restaurant in town with Mom. He loved his daily Kick Start, backyard dinners with the Levys, Jeopardy, Chopped, spring break trips, laughing and arguing with Peter, sparring with John and Luke about UofL/UK, annual visits to New Orleans, and watching any kind of sports. Jack has left a hole in our hearts but is now with Bade, Pop & Ruth, Peggy & Baldy, Nono, Miss Bobbie, and Woody. Everyone that knew Jack is grateful for the light that he was.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in Jack’s honor at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday, June 14 at 4:00, with visitation at the Church at 2:00. Please consider a donation to Trinity High School – Jack Sullivan ’08 Scholarship, 4011 Shelbyville Road, Louisville 40207, in lieu of flowers.
