Dennis Capps, age 81, passed away at his home on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born the son of Elmer and Mildred (Nauman) Capps on July 22, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dennis graduated from East High School. He attended Grant Park Christian Church and later became a member of Capitol Hill Christian Church. Dennis proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in Mannheim, Germany. Upon his return, he began working at Brady Manufacturing and later at Firestone where he retired from as a tire builder. Dennis had a passion for being outdoors, he loved hunting and fishing. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years Linda Capps, daughter Sandra Derry, grandchildren Brandon Derry and Alicia Derry (Dustin Craig), great-grandson Salem Craig, nephew Daniel Worthington, and a host of extended family members and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.
