Neil Young – Time Fades Away

I have owned this lp since it was released- the sound is raw and full of energy. A great album-

The 1st of Neil young’s so called dark trilogy along with Tonight’s The Night & On The Beach ye one of his most powerful albums in terms of sheer stripped down emotion.
Neil's voice is perhaps a bit “shaky” but this only adds to the bleak emotional mood.
A brave social observation of the rock and roll life of the early 70s.
A raw impassionate melancholic rewarding set of songs.

Here we have a nice live album by Neil Young. This German pressing sounds sound bass heavy and on the warm side of neutral.

Based on the previous reviews, I dodged a bullet. My copy was clean, without any pops, crackles or distortion. It did sound a little overproduced but overall it is a good listen.

Mine was warped but was able to flatten in my Orb machine. Surprisingly quiet noise floor from GZ, even considering the paper inner sleeve. Sonically sounds great and love the extra track.

This is wiothout a doubt a great pressing.
I confirm the Flatness and the Noise-Free background.
I also think that it was remastered again for the 50th anniversary, since this LP not only sounds much clearer, but it actually IS clearer than its predecessors, since it is transparent.
The extra track "The Last Trip To Tulsa" from the "Time Fades Away" 7'' makes this edition definitive.

Is this the first time we’ve had an official colored pressing of a classic Neil young album? (Excluding Harvest Moon)

Also can anyone else comment on the sound quality comparisons to their current/OG copy?

I was worried because it doesn’t mention how this was recorded via Direct to disc, but everytime I compared they sound pretty much identical , very nice sound. Cover opens from the top again

Best pressing of this album yet. I’ve got the OG and the last reissue. The vinyl is noise free, flat, and the album sounds incredibly dynamic, for the source materail. The extra bside is just icing on the cake. The craziest part is it’s the one of cheapest records I bought all year. $15 was an absolute steal… but so is $24.99 for the quality here. If you’re a NY fan, recommended. Long live the Ditch

This may be my favorite pressing after listening to it a couple of times. I grew up loving the original from 1973, but the 2015 remastered pressing really was much clearer. I’m not sure if this was remastered again for the 50th anniversary, but to my ears, it sounds like it. The bass is tighter(especially on “Yonder Stands A Sinner” and “LA”) and the stereo sounds wider and more realistic. I assume it is a new remaster since the electric version of “Last Trip To Tulsa” is now included. So glad to have that song on this record instead of having to pull out my old “Time Fades Away/Last Trip To Tulsa” single. This is no longer pressed at Pallas like the 2015 pressing, but my copy is quiet.

Same AAA cut from a few years ago, but with an extra track (which is a hoot!). If you don't have this already, now's your chance. Highly recommended.
