Reviews
- Edited 3 years agoBased on reviews on several audiophile boards, I was looking forward to really liking this reissue. To my ears, though, the sound is unacceptably muffled and murky. I know some people like this "dark" sound, or view it as an antidote to the overly-bright reissues we've been subjected to for years, but I miss the original sound of the group - particularly the unique "singing", silvery tone of Sneaky Pete's steel guitar (which I no longer hear).
And I think it was a mistake to open the disc with a loud, manic radio ad for the album (in Spanish). IR thinks it was just a bit of fun, but I'd cringe every time I press "play".
