American popular singer and actress who had several major hits in the 1950's.
Born December 3, 1931 Mancos, Colorado.
She charted twenty-four times in the U.S. between 1953 and 1971 including "That's All I Want from You" which hit #3 in 1954 and "The Longest Walk" which hit #6 in 1955. Her first hits came in 1953 with "Just a Gigolo" (#22) and "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries" (#26). She recorded over twenty albums between 1954 and 1995.
Morgan recorded 45's and sang on TV shows with four of her brothers that comprised the group The Morgan Brothers. From 1954 to 1955, Morgan was a vocalist on the ABC television series show Stop the Music. In November 1955, the British music magazine, NME, listed Morgan as the top female vocalist in the U.S. Cash Box poll. In 1954, she was a featured singer on the Robert Q. Lewis Show on CBS-TV. In 1956, she had her own show, The Jaye P. Morgan Show, and made guest appearances on a number of other variety shows. From 1976 to 1978, Morgan was a regular panelist on The Gong Show.
