On her campaign website, Nadaeu highlighted the following issues:[6]
Affordable housing
- Excerpt: "The key to continued economic diversity in [Ward 1] is funding. In order to assure that creative development continues for those who need it most, Ward 1 needs a strong voice in support of this kind of funding. As Councilmember, Brianne will support programs like the Housing Production Trust Fund, and will continue her efforts to create public-private partnerships between residents, developers and the DC government that help keep our ward diverse."
Education
- Excerpt: "As Councilmember, Brianne will fight for continued financial investment in schools attended by Ward 1 families and will support principals and teachers who are working hard to provide every opportunity to our children. Brianne has a proven track record of bringing people together to address issues facing our community and in order to improve our education system, she will build a coalition of parents, teachers, school administrators and elected officials to create meaningful improvements to schools in our ward and to ensure our schools are safe, strong and successful."
Transportation
- Excerpt: "As Councilmember, Brianne will offer creative, progressive policies toward parking and transportation that take into account the needs of both the residents of Ward 1 and our visitors. She is interested in working to strike a good balance between all of the modes of transportation used by ward residents, and working to ensure the accessibility to each is compatible with neighborhood and resident needs. She will fight to restore funding to the Georgia Avenue Streetscape project and work to ensure that the newer Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan streetscapes are maintained in ways that allow residents, businesses owners and visitors to take full advantage of all those neighborhoods have to offer."
Public safety
- Excerpt: "As Councilmember, Brianne will work closely with MPD to ensure the allocation of police resources properly reflects the needs of our ward and that residents and business owners have the information they need to protect themselves and their property. She also will ensure that District policies lead to positive relationships between residents and police so that victims can get the services they need without fear of persecution or retaliation. Brianne also will work to address the deeper issues behind the crime we are seeing in the ward. A stronger education system that keeps children in school and puts them on a career path is essential to reducing crime in the ward and across the District. Safe parks and a wide array of recreational activities will engage our kids and keep them out of trouble after school and on the weekends."
