Many people who grew up in the '90s remember the classic movie Beethoven. Millennials are definitely nostalgic about '90s music videos along with the great sitcoms from this time period.

Beethoven was released in 1992 and tells the story of the Newton family, who take in a dog who becomes a beloved part of their lives. He loves when he hears Ludwig van Beethoven's Fifth Symphony when the little girl Emily plays it, and the family feels that he should definitely be called "Beethoven." It's a sweet, heartwarming, and feel-good movie and it's no wonder it's still so memorable today. Chances are that many kids watching wished they had the same adorable dog and they would have loved to be part of this family.

The movie also has a sequel and features many actors who became super famous after. What happened to the actress who played Emily? Let's take a look at what we know about Sarah Rose Karr and her life after playing beloved Emily in Beethoven.

Where Is She Now?

There are many child stars who stopped acting and that seems to be the case with Sarah Rose Karr as well.

According to Sarah Rose Karr's IMDb page, she was born in 1984 in California and some of her early film roles include Kindergarten Cop in 1990, Father Of The Bride in 1991, and playing a kid on Roseanne in 1991.

Karr's other film roles include the TV movies Homewrecker and The Four Diamonds, which came out in 1992 and 1995.

Of course, the star is famous for playing the role of Emily Newton in Beethoven and Beethoven's 2nd. But after that, her roles stopped, and she isn't credited for anything else.

Karr finished studying at the New College of Florida in 2003 and according to Celebrity.nine.com.au, she doesn't live her life in the public eye anymore. The website notes that she is totally private and it's hard to find official pictures of her as a grown-up.

In 2015, Closer Weekly noted that the actress stopped acting halfway through the '90s and no one is quite sure what she has been doing since. The only reports seem to be her college education.

The other members of the movie's cast are easier to locate now as they have become super famous. According to Closer Weekly, Oliver Platt played Harvey and Stanley Tucci played Vernon, and of course, these two are very well-known working actors. These two characters weren't good guys at all as they didn't love dogs and they were the villains in the movie.

Christopher Castle, who played Emily's sibling Ted Newton, appeared in the '90s show Step By Step. Once it was off the air, he studied teaching and is a high school social studies teacher in Downey, California, according to Closer Weekly.

Nicholle Tom, who played Ryce Newton, also played the role of Maggie on The Nanny in the '90s and has been working since.

Bonnie Hunt, who played Alice Newton, is also a well-known Hollywood figure, along with the late Charles Grodin, who played the dad George Newton.

The Impact Of 'Beethoven'

When Beethoven came out, Roger Ebert gave the movie two and a half stars, and he said that he didn't tend to look for movies like this one. He did think that Charles Grodin's performance was worth noting: the review states, "Nor did I find anything particularly new in "Beethoven," although I concede that the filmmakers secured an admirable dog for the title role, and that Charles Grodin, who is almost always amusing, has what fun can be had playing the grumpy dad."

Many kids loved watching the movie, and Ebert finished his movie review by saying that if he was younger than 14 years old, he's sure that he would have loved it.

The script was written by John Hughes, who, according to Moviefone.com, used the pseudonym Edmond Dantes.

According to Eightieskids.com, not all critics were thrilled with the movie, although it did do well at the box office and made $150 million at the global box office.

There are actually seven movies: Beethoven's 2nd (1993), then Beethoven's 3rd in 2000, and Beethoven's 4th the following year. Their fifth movie was released in 2003 called Beethoven's 5th, and then Beethoven's Big Break came in 2008. The last two movies are Beethoven's Christmas Adventure, which was released in 2011, and 2014's Beethoven's Treasure Tail.
