Charming town of the region, in region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, La Côte-Saint-André takes place fifty kilometers from Grenoble, in the micro-region of the Bievre and Liers plain. It is located between Lyon and Valence Bourgoin-Jallieu, near Sardieu Brézins and Bressieux.

Inhabited since protohistoric times, as evidenced by the cult chariot solid bronze found locally in the nineteenth century, the territory of La Côte-Saint-André begins its rise to ancient times, and continues to develop in the Middle Ages.

Things to see and do

La Côte-Saint-André has an important religious heritage to discover during a walk in the streets. Do not miss the Romanesque St Andrew eleventh century listed historical monument church, St. Camillus Church of the nineteenth century or the ruins of the abbey of Bonnevaux. Former Cistercian abbey from the early twelfth century, it was sold as a career in the early nineteenth.

Starting to explore the town, you will remain seduced by the richness of its architecture and its old buildings. Built in the late thirteenth century, the hall is a must, the building registered to welcoming Historical Monuments always the weekly market.

Located on the heights of the city, the castle said Louis XI opens all year, including offering to discover the charming museum Paradise chocolate that will delight gourmands. The building that hosts the annual Berlioz festival events is now classified as an historic monument for its staircase and fireplace on the ground floor.

Events and festivities

  • The weekly market is held every Thursday morning in the hall. Since the start of 2021, a second market has been offered every Saturday morning at Place Hector Berlioz.
  • In May, the town offers a party in Jongkind with strolls, shows or even a ball.
  • Classical music festival organized in the second half of August, the Berlioz festival is an opportunity to attend numerous concerts.
  • End of September, place at Côt'en Fête, a festival dedicated to ecology and the environment presenting screenings, conferences, workshops and musical entertainment.
