Lou Christie

Lou Christie is a singer and composer from Glenwillard, Pennsylvania, who was born on February 19, 1943. He is well known for his 1960s hit tunes such as “Two Faces Have I,” “Lightning Strikes,” and “Rhapsody in the Rain.”

Christie began his music career as a member of The Tammys, but quickly quit to pursue a solo career. In 1962, he signed with Roulette Records and released his debut single, “The Gypsy Cried,” which charted in the top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Christie’s biggest success was “Lightning Strikes,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 1966. The song was followed by “Rhapsody in the Rain,” which peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Christie recorded and performed throughout the 1960s, but his fame declined in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he temporarily rejoined with The Tammys, and he has since continued to perform and create songs, but at a slower rate.
