What travellers are saying
- DavidWalton-On-Thames, UK2 contributionsArrival at the handsome old terminal building with a vintage airliner in front of it is stunning, and parking is easy and free. If you've flown on Ryanair or EasyJet, come to Croydon Airport and see how it used to be done, how commercial aviation began - it was more or less invented here! Perhaps the most fascinating bit is finding out how air traffic control used to work ages before radar was invented. This visit takes you back 100 years to another world entirely!Written 5 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John RBromley, UK2 contributionsA truely hidden gem! Whilst being owned by Croydon Council, the windmill is staffed by a team of friendly volunteers. All tours around the structure are timed so you have to get in fast before they fill up. There were some small gifts and food available for purchase, although the cake had near enough run out by the time we had finished the tour - it's very popular! Would recommed a visit for an afternoon out.Written 8 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- emuslushyLondon, UK391 contributionsA hidden gem in Croydon. Found out about Littleheath Woods a few years ago and have visited for quite a few walks since, in all seasons.
Still don't feel like have explored all of the woods and there is still lots to see. Lots of different entrances, maps at the entrances are very useful.
Lots of birdlife and flowers. Very peaceful and well worth many visits.Written 2 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike P4 contributionsFound this garden park and pond by accident looking at a map of Croydon. It is in the Shirley area of Croydon and has a lovely pond and is good for a short walk around with plenty of seats if you feel tired or want to read a book! Good to see no rubbish around too! - thebellsarechimingGalle, Sri Lanka39 contributionsA woodland area, lovingly being restored mostly by volunteers. This is a haven of tranquility, with woodland walks among wild plants and flowers. The woods formed part of land owned by William Wilks, creator of the Shirley poppy. A great place to visit and revisit.Written 13 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- emuslushyLondon, UK391 contributionsAlso known as the Bird Sanctuary, these woods are a lovely place to visit.
A nice amount of both woodland and open fields, varied birdlife, flowers, bluebells are stunning in season and even deer have been seen (sadly not seen them yet!).
Lots of entrances, maps at all entrances. Is a lovely place for a wander and is very peaceful, lots of different paths to take and things to see. There is also a bird feeder near a pond, put in by a "Friends Group", who seem to be very friendly and have an informative website - google "Friends of Selsdon Wood".
Always something different to see, season dependent. If visiting in bluebell season, it's worth crossing over into Puplet Wood (off Baker Boy Lane) for an absolutely stunning bluebell display.Written 2 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vish V1 contributionWe did the escape room challenge in Croydon. The two that we took part in were a lot of fun and i think they were pitched at a good level to be challenging but not frustrating. The staff were also incredibly helpful and kind which makes the experience even better.
We booked on the day and we enjoyed the room so much we asked if we could do another one right then and there, which they acommodated without a big delay! I highly recommend them, and its a lovely way to spend an hour (or more!).Written 31 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
