Can't decide between 77 inch B3 or 65 inch C3

This is such a repeated question but I just can't stop watching TV videos on YouTube over this and hope I can get opinions from people who have experienced these TVs.

I have forever watched content on LED tvs and currently a 55 inch Roku TCL tv which is my roommate's and never experienced OLED TVs before. I know I am in for a ride the same way I was able to see what I was missing when I transitioned from LED displays to OLED smartphone displays.

I'll be moving to a new place in Michigan within a month and I plan on getting an OLED for the first time through a good deal on black friday. I own an Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and plan on buying an Apple TV 4K anyway since I love what apple offers in terms of their UI and the ecosystem.

I see myself using mostly streaming Youtube, movies and shows on Apple TV, Netflix etc, Streaming live sports (Premier league) and Games on my Xbox as well as the switch. The room isn't gonna be bright as I plan to shut off lights with blinds anyway.

Viewing distance would be less than 8 feet given my 1BHK preferences making the space smaller.

I have seen two sects of people, those who recommend the C3 Tech over B3 Size and the others who suggest the opposite. Given my usecases and my prior LED tv lifestyle, should I just go for the bigger B3 or get better quality with the smaller C3 or even look at other brand offerings like Samsung? I have heard good things about the display color but the lack of Dolby vision. I am in no hurry to purchase the TVs however I want to put an end to this thought so that I can focus on more important stuff in my life.

Put tape on the wall in those dimensions and sit where you want to sit. Figure out how much you’ll be turning your head or moving your eyes, and if you have the physical space.

My advice is to get the 77". I'm at 6.5ft from mine and have no problems, wouldn't want to go smaller.

I'm not even gonna read all that, just get the bigger one. I have a 65" and sometimes I literally sit in front of it like a kid, and it never occurred to me if I should've gotten a 55" one.

Haha I appreciate the straight up opinion. I was a bit concerned if I was typing too much. Just wanted to provide as much info as I could.

now you made me read all that 😅 joke aside I'm with the people recommending the bigger size. If you can phisically fit it go for the 77. maybe there is some minor difference in image quality between the 2022 and '23 models, if you put them side by side, but there is so much more difference between the 65" and 77". the 77 is about 40% bigger by area. thats huge (thatswhatshesaid).

Yup these minor differences only arise when put side by side, I believe in just my satisfaction at the end without a C3 on the side to analyze the fine details. However size stays. I think I made a decision to go with the bigger one.

wise choice sir, wise choice.

I think the 77” would be too big. I also have about 8-9 ft from the tv. The 65” is perfect and I don’t have to move my eyes too much. Finally I have the c3 and its brightness is adequate. I can’t imagine anything dimmer.

I sit at 4.6 feet from a 65 and I don't move my eyes at all 99% of the time.

You are just stuck on old times.

Times have changed and it's always go bigger or suffer from r/tvtoosmall

Let me guess. You sit at the last row of a regular cinema and likely have never experienced sitting towards the middle.

I don’t know seems kind of wild but if you say it works at 4ft I guess it does. There are online calculators that disagree, but I can’t say I’ve tried it.

Its called viewing angles. Sure there are some suggested standards. I don't know anyone that follows it. I'm at about 50 to 55 degree viewing angle.

You should try out 30 to start with and then go as big as you can tolerate.

77 inch. https://phfx.com/tools/optimalViewing/ov.cgi?d=77&u=i&ar=16%3A9&fm=c&cfov=&cd=&cdu=i

How much viewing immersion do you want?

I'm at 4.6 feet for a 65 inch for example and love it very very much.

This is such a good read, thanks!

77” no doubt. The size difference heavily trumps the brightness difference.

Edited

C3 because ! Better upscaling, brighter.

For 8 feet 65" is perfect

+Overall picture quality is much better on C3

Lmao why people downvoted me ?

I guess because you brought up refresh rate? Both B3 and C3 do 4k 120Hz

M'y Bad. It's LG A3 that does not support 120hz

B3 does 120hz

As much as I hate to agree with this, it is true. It’s 29% smaller but double the refresh rate, that by itself is massive. Add on the processing and brightness and it’s a no brainer at 8ft.

Literally just watched Shogun at 7-8’ from a 77 c3 and it’s almost too much. I wouldn’t be upset at all if it was a 65” g3/4

Isn't B3 120hz as well? It might have only one HDMI 2.1 port given the other is eArc but it still does have one doesn't it?

u/Absolutjeff avatar

Upon further checking, you are correct. Both are 120hz, with the 2 hdmi input 2.1 for the b3, however the c3 looks to be MUCH brighter. Rtings has the peak brightness at 580 nits for the b3 and 810 for the c3, personally that much brightness difference would be worth it for me.

I only use two hdmi 2.1 ports anyways but man, that brightness downgrade would hurt

Correct. In any other discussion size always i preferable. But not with B3 vs C3. Weird
