Poltair School Celebrating Success After Recent Ofsted Inspection

Poltair School is delighted to announce that it has received a Good judgement in its recent Ofsted inspection, with specific recognition for outstanding behaviour and attitudes, leadership and management, and personal development.

This achievement places Poltair School among only a small handful of schools in the country to receive outstanding marks, contributing to an overall Good outcome. 

Headteacher Mark Everett expressed immense pride in the school's acknowledgement by Ofsted, stating, "We are thrilled that Ofsted has acknowledged the hard work and dedication we have invested in transforming Poltair from a school that had never before been recognised as 'good' by Ofsted." 

"There is a relentless drive to provide the best possible life chances for pupils,” Ofsted inspectors stated. “This is visible in the curriculum, the focus on pupils' character development, and the exemplary conduct of pupils."  

Poltair School believes that education is not just about building knowledge but also about developing character and instilling values that will guide students throughout their lives. The curriculum at Poltair is carefully crafted to offer a wide range of opportunities, ensuring that every student has the chance to discover their passions and unlock their full potential. Character development is prioritised, fostering traits such as resilience, empathy, and integrity, which are essential for success both academically and personally. The exemplary conduct of pupils is testament to the values instilled and the supportive environment, where mutual respect and a sense of community are paramount. 

In the Ofsted report, inspectors noted, "The school ensures that all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are able to succeed academically." This recognition underscores Poltair's commitment to inclusive education and ensuring every student reaches their full potential. 

Additionally, inspectors praised the exemplary behaviour of Poltair's students, stating, "Pupils' behaviour is exemplary and there is a culture of mutual respect." This positive atmosphere fosters an environment where learning flourishes and students feel supported in their academic and personal development. 

Ofsted also commended the expertise of Poltair's staff, noting, "Staff are experts in their subjects and present information clearly." This reflects the dedication of the teaching staff to delivering high-quality education and inspiring students to excel in their learning. 

Furthermore, inspectors highlighted Poltair School's high expectations for student behaviour and aspirations for their futures, stating, "Poltair School has high expectations of pupils' behaviour and high aspirations for their futures." This emphasis on both behaviour and academic achievement ensures that students leave Poltair prepared for success in their future endeavours. 

The Good rating is a testament to the collective effort of the local community, staff, and students, whose commitment has been integral to the school's success. Poltair School extends heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication, without which this achievement would not have been possible. 

Since joining the Cornwall Education Learning Trust in 2019, Poltair School has undergone a remarkable transformation, culminating in record-breaking GCSE results and securing a position among the top 5 secondary schools in Cornwall. The school's exceptional performance has led to being heavily oversubscribed, confirming the high esteem in which it is held by the community.
