i loved it very much & it has me feeling very ready for college. i only hated about 3 teachers the whole career.
This is an academically good school if you choose to take AP classes, but otherwise it’s not hard except for honors math. Some of the teachers here are terrible but most are good. The food is disgusting mostly, except for sushi Thursdays.
Lower Merion provides a great academic experience with challenging AP and Honors courses and caring teachers and guidance counselors. I'm a senior who transferred to Lower Merion from an underfunded, public rural school and the amount of help and empathy I received from my guidance counselors and teachers was touching. As a low-income minority going through a family crisis and being in less than ideal living conditions, they made me feel seen and fought for me in so many ways. There are also many AP/Honors and clubs to choose from, and I enjoyed the variety.
Overall, Lower Merion provides an excellent academic experience with caring teachers and challenging courses. However, the student culture is overly competitive and can be cruel to "different students," i.e those who aren't wealthy, rigorous and white. The amount of times I've heard derogatory language such as the r-word directed at otherwise "average", (average in the sense of either income or academics) students is concerning.

Lower Merion is a wealthy school, and its lucky to have an abundance of resources. Unfortunately, the school culture around achievement is very toxic. There's a constant competition to take the most AP classes, regardless of whether or not you're ready for them, meaning that in any given AP class, a good 40-50% of the class is students who aren't interested in doing the work and are only there because it's an AP. Quantity of high level courses is prioritized over quality work and the administration does very little to discourage these attitudes. There are many excellent teachers who take pride in their work, but the administration, barely pushes back on the over demanding and privileged parents that characterize this area and are constantly challenging teachers. Grade inflation is also rampant. Overall, Lower Merion is a good educational school, mainly thanks to its excessive resources, but it's a subpar student experience, made up of extremely privileged students and a phony culture.
Ever since freshman year, I have never once felt out of place when attending this school. When I'm lonely in classes I don't have any friends with, my past teacher has brightened up the mood and started conversations with me. I greatly appreciated the effort they put into me. During lunch, I attend my teachers' office hours for academic help. Teachers here appreciate your effort to improve and actively supports you in any way.
This is my first year in Lower Merion High School and my experiences are amazing. Teachers, guards everyone’s amazing and very kind. When it was my first day of school teachers made sure that i was feeling okay.
At lower merino high school I was provided with great resources as well as a supportive administration members who would make sure that I was where I needed to be and felt safe at all times. The wide range of clubs and activities allowed me to meet people easily and find new activities to participate in to be more included in the school and have school spirit.
Overall, LM has a lot of resources available to students, from AP classes to extra help. I've had both incredible teachers and pretty awful teachers, but I've been a fan of all the classes I've taken! The clubs are usually pretty good, especially Players, but be aware that students are very competitive to the point of foolishness, especially during college apps season. It's pretty socially diverse, but not so much economically. Not a fan of the bomb threats, but every high school has that nowadays.
The teachers have been very engaged and helpful to my son in guiding and advising him. I would like to see more diversity in the school but overall all are welcome; it is an accepting and warm environment.
Lower Merion High School is a academically driven and rather competitive school in its culture. While it supports and educates a wide range of students, students of all levels are driven to do better and learn. Amazing facilities but a questionable administration that sometimes restricts our use of them.
I have many great experiences, one of them is wrestling for my school . The worst part was the lost of our principal, it took a toll on our school spirit.
Lower Merion High School has many great aspects due to the large range of diversity in the building. The student body is composed of many different individuals that come from so many different backgrounds. I believe that this is the best part of my old high school however an aspect that could be improved upon is the staff and administration's focus. a lot of times staff members and administrators put a lot of time and effort into things that upset the student body or just do not benefit the overall well-being and high school of the students.
I think my experience with Lower Merion High school has been wonderful and accepting. First and foremost, it offers a diverse and inclusive environment that fosters acceptance and respect. With students from various cultural backgrounds, Lower Merion High School encourages a tolerant and enriching atmosphere.

I believe Lower Merion high school prepared me very well for college level courses. I think there is a decent course selection. Worst parts are the lack of diversity in teachers and something I would be god to see change.
Overall, I had a good experience at Lower merion high school. I made good friends and believe I had a great education that prepared me for college. Something I did not enjoy was the competitiveness when applying to colleges. And overall, grades, extracurriculars, and volunteer, etc was taken extremely seriously by a lot of students. So, there are a few parts of the experience that I would like to see change. also, there is not a lot of diversity among the faculty.
I feel like the Honors vs College Prep curriculums aren’t that different and I wish the Honors classes were more challenging. I feel like I am not getting the same skills that kids my age across the country are getting. The English and History classes especially seem like electives more than core classes, and we only wrote one paper between the two. I am taking my first AP this fall and hope that the class will live up to the general AP guidelines. My fear is that an AP class will feel like an Honors class, and I will be behind my peers at other schools when I have to apply for colleges.
very good, though there is lots of changes implemented. Good vibes and good things though there is different things.
