Overview

Description

Situated along the coast at the mouth of the Merrimack River, the campground offers 484 campsites with water and electric hookups, comfort stations and a playground. Boardwalks provide access to an ocean beach, and two boat ramps on the river assure swimming, boating and fishing fun!

Geography:

Salisbury Beach State Reservation extends 3.8 miles from south to north along the Atlantic Ocean from the Merrimack River to the New Hampshire border. This entire length of shoreline consists of a high-quality sandy beach.

The Merrimack River enters the Atlantic Ocean at the southern end of Salisbury Beach, and the western sector of the Reservation is bordered by adjacent areas of salt marsh. This extensive barrier beach system plays a critical role in the protection of the Merrimack River estuary, along with associated salt marsh habitat, dune preservation, and habitat for threatened and endangered species and other nearby wildlife. In fall and winter, harbor seals often sun themselves on the jetty.

Recreation:

Salisbury Beach State Reservation provides a number of recreational opportunities to the public, including swimming, fishing, camping and boating and relaxation under the sun!

Facilities:

The campground offers 484 campsites and one group site with water and 20/30/50 amp electric hookups. An additional group site is available with no hookups. Comfort stations are available with flush toilets and showers. The W street comfort station is accessible. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring and a pedestal grill. Please note there is no shade over the sites. A dumping station is also available for your convenience. By the beach, three comfort stations, over-the-dune boardwalks, and a playground and rentable pavilion area make this a popular ocean destination. The Reservation also has two boat ramps that are located on the Merrimack River at the campground's southern edge.

The pavilion includes a large group grill and picnic tables. The pavilion can be reserved through ReserveAmerica. The rental does not include the daily parking fee of $14 for MA residents and $40 for non MA residents. Please read additional information below.
