Drag Race México will return for a second season, but one of the co-hosts has decided not to return. Valentina responded to the announcement today (May 16) about the drag queen who will take her place.

In May of last year, Mexican-American star Valentina and Lolita Banana, born in Mexico, were announced as the co-hosts of the first season of Drag Race México. Later that month, Valentina told Remezcla, “To be coming into a position of now being a host, it’s such an artistic challenge and a graduation.” The Mexican spin-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race premiered last June. In September, Christian Peralta became the first queen to win the title of “Mexico’s Next Drag Superstar.”

A teaser video for season two revealed that Valentina will not return as a co-host. It’s now been announced that Lolita Banana will be joined by Mexican drag queen Taiga Brava, who won the second season of Queen of the Universe. While it’s unknown why Valentina decided not to return for more Drag Race México, she sent her regards to the show and Taiga Brava.

“It was a great honor to serve as a host for the inaugural season of Drag Race México,” Valentina shared in a statement. “Thank you to my World of Wonder family for making this dream come true of bringing Drag Race to Mexico. Also, thank you to my dear fans for all your support. I wish all the best to the new host. I will be tuning in!”

Following the announcement of the host shakeup, Taiga Brava opened up about taking the reins from Valentina. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), she expressed her excitement about joining the Drag Race México franchise.

“Finally we can say it!!!!!” she wrote. “OFFICIALLY HOST OF DRAG RACE MEXICO 2. It is an HONOR. It has been an unimaginable journey to get to this point, and I only know that I am going to give ALL my heart to that place.”

The second season of Drag Race México will be released this summer and stream exclusively on WOW Presents Plus.
