Jack Elway, the 24-year-old son of Denver Broncos general manager John Elway, was arrested over the weekend in Colorado. The younger Elway was charged with assault and disturbing the peace after being taken into custody early Saturday morning.

The alleged incident took place in downtown Denver. According to an affadavit obtained by NBC-9, Jack Elway was in a car with his girlfriend when the two got into a verbal altercation. The younger Elway then stopped the car and allegedly pulled his girlfriend out of the vehicle by her hair. Elway's girlfriend then tried to get back in the car, but he allegedly pushed her to the ground, causing scrapes to her knees.

The younger Elway fled the scene, but was eventually taken into custody at an address listed to his dad. Jack Elway was released on a $550 bond on Saturday and is scheduled to be back in court on June 5.

"This is a personal family matter and the Broncos will not have any additional comment on it," the Broncos said in a statement.

The younger Elway attended Arizona State with plans of competing for the Sun Devil starting quarterback job, instead though, Jack decided to quit the team in the spring of 2009.
