Michael O'Hare of "Babylon 5" sci-fi series, dies at 60 WITH VIDEO

Veteran TV actor Michael O'Hare, best known for his starring role in the syndicated science fiction series "Babylon 5," has died, says the Hollywood Reporter.

O'Hare played Commander Jeffrey Sinclair in the first season of the series created by J. Michael Straczynski. He left on amicable terms and returned in a plot twist that was a crucial point to the mythology of the series. O'Hare died Friday at 60, after suffering a heart attack five days earlier, the story notes.

"Babylon 5" aired for four seasons on Prime Time Entertainment Network and for a final season on TNT, spanning 1994-1998.

On Broadway, the Chicago native appeared in the original 1989-91 production of Aaron Sorkin's "A Few Good Men" as Col. Nathan Jessup, a role for which Jack Nicholson earned an Oscar nomination in the 1992 film.

"I regret that I must convey the sad news that Michael O'Hare passed away today. He suffered a heart attack on Sunday and was in a coma until his passing this afternoon. This is a terrible loss for all B5 fans and everyone involved with the show wishes to convey their condolences to the O'Hare family. He was an amazing man."He later tweeted a comment about others from the B5 cast who had passed.

"Richard Biggs. Andreas Katsulas. Jeff Conaway. Tim Choate. Michael O'Hare. Enough already. Go pick on somebody else's cast.

"I can only assume from all this that someone in the afterlife has begun pre-production on a Babylon 5 movie. I wonder who's writing the script."
