He stars in it opposite Evan Roderick, Marilu Henner, and Skyler Samuels in her debut as the title character. Jessica Harmon directed this film from a screenplay by Teena Booth.

‘Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New’

The synopsis is: Young Aurora Teagarden returns home to Lawrenceton after college to pursue her post-grad degree and finds herself embroiled in a mystery involving her friend Sally’s fiancé.

On being a part of this new mystery, he remarked, “It was awesome, and so cool to join a series that was already so good, and to do this prequel and re-explore the characters when they were younger. It was really cool to be a part of that.”

Skyler Samuels as Aurora

He shared his thoughts about Skyler Samuels stepping into the protagonist role of Aurora Teagarden. “Skyler [Samuels] was so fantastic as the title character; she just has that movie star quality to her. Working with Jessica Harmon, the director, was great. I was just excited to be a part of it,” he said.

Working with Evan Roderick and Marilu Helnner

On working with Evan Roderick and Marilu Henner, he said, “I’ve known Evan Roderick for a really long time, we take acting classes together, and we both go to the same gym. It was really cool to be together and to work together,” he said. “This was my first time meeting Marilu Henner and she was an absolute delight. I learned some really cool things about her and her photographic memory. It was really cool to pick her brain.”

Playing Matt Walker

“Regarding his character, Smith remarked, I played Matt Walker and I like that we get to go through a lot of what Matt is going through, we learn that pretty early on. There is a lot going on with Matt behind the scenes and with his past.”

“It was really cool to explore that with Jessica and the other actors. I am excited for people to dig deeper into what Matt’s past looks like,” he added.

Favorite motto to live by

On his favorite motto to live by, he shared, “Live the way a dog does, and I think that’s the way we should all be as human beings. No matter which direction we are having to go in, be just as excited to go in the direction in that you are going.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, Smith said, “Success, to me, is getting a chance to make people happy with the projects that I get to do. That’s the No. 1 thing that I am already finding with my career.”

Closing thoughts on ‘Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New’

Smith concluded about this new mystery, “I am really excited for people to get a fresh start to an already amazing series. It’s an exciting and interesting way to get a new cast into a project like this.”
